OK. So I really don't know how to describe this book. Sentimental, maybe? Encouraging, sure. Hilarious, definitely. But most of all it is honest. I mean there are certain things that you want a book to reflect out of which the most important one is honesty. And every word (maybe exaggerated or maybe not, I mean you never know) literally touched me.
Audrey is a 14 year old girl who is suffering from social anxiety disorder because of an incident that took place in the school. You don't know what it actually was about except for the fact that it was tormenting. Next thing you know Audrey has a tough time to deal with people and I guess not just the people but her surroundings as well. Life is just moving on when in comes Linus. Linus is one the friends of Audrey's brother who plays LOC with him.
Now I know you might think that it's because of Linus that Audrey heals... But that would be a big NO. Though surely it's with the help of Linus that Audrey is trying to get better, it's not because of him that she gets better. It's because of the fact that she wants to get better. She wants a straight line always reaching up to the stars which frankly speaking is what everyone wants. It's because of her determination to get better that she heals, it's because of the desire to prove herself that she has healed. That's what I loved about this book. It tells you that life is not always rosy... Whichever character you want to put yourself through. It tells you that life has its ups and downs but that does not mean you run away from the downs. Instead you face the downs and challenge yourself to travel upwards. That's what life's about and that's what this book is about.
Not only the theme is interesting, but the characters, the plot and the setting... Everything is pretty damn amazing. Especially the way the story has been put forth, it's just lovely like every other Sophie Kinsella's books. It's magnificent, really.

Best. Book. Ever.
It's been a long time I read a book in paperback which engrossed me so much that I couldn't keep it down despite the fact that I really had to study. I love Christmas stories, that's obvious. But I especially loved this one because I equalled loved Harriet and Ethan and possibly the whole family and the whole setting and basically everything. At first I wasn't sure whether I'll like it or not but it's definitely amazing.
So basic outline is that Harriet is a dog walker. All through her life she has felt that she has been emotionally too dependent on her siblings and finally decides to do something which will challenge her limits. Through this challenge Harriet she meets Ethan. Ethan is professionally a doctor and works in the ER department which basically means his schedule is supremely tight. He believes that he is devoid of emotion after putting aside his emotions for so long.
Harriet is on a quest to be a fiery woman and Ethan is actually not on a quest (except if you count saving people and helping them in whatever way he can). They are seriously very different but at the same time they have more things in common which as you read you get to know about. And the plus side? You see charming dogs wherever you go. So that's something which makes it even more worth reading.
So yeah, when I saw it library I was like I am seriously done with romance and I actually had abandoned it. Next week, it caught my eyes again and I thought let's give it a go. I'm seriously glad I did! Moonlight over Manhattan tells you that courageous does not mean being an adrenaline junkie or do things which you don't like. It's about facing things you are afraid of, embracing that situation or challenge and kick it in its back. It's about being honest with oneself and taking up all the new challenges that lives throw in your way. It's about love and family and friends and dogs. Most of all, it's about Christmas and winter's being magical.
