It took a lot of courage for the women to come forward and for Ronan to uncover all of the lies and horrible actions by men with power. This was a good listen. One thing Ronan Farrow is going to have is RECEIPTS before he ever puts anything damning out there about someone. People are just mad because their faves are rapists.
Enjoyed listening to this. I'm glad he was able to go to college and find his tribe.
I almost tapped out after the r*ape happened but kept on listening because I had to know what would happen next. Ethic had me clutching my pearls and calling on the Lord the whole time. There were times when I saw something coming a mile away but it was still enjoyable. Can't wait to listen to part two because I need to know if Alani's BD knows it's really Ethic who accidentally murdered his daughter. I felt so bad for Alani. Sis couldn't catch a break! Baby as soon as Ethic told me he did it I'd grab my purse and go right to the police. Forget crying into his arms!
Definitely need a TW on this. It was so sad seeing Mindy think so little of herself because she was a lil fluffy. Body dysmorphia is real and I hope she is able to talk to someone about it again. I know her friend meant well but the things she would say throughout the years combined with her family wasn't helping Mindy at all.
Couldn't finish listening to this. Author isn't Black which isn't a problem for me BUT he wrote the characters as dumb af and lazy af. But whatever, the checks cleared for A.L. LMAO.
Liked this better than the movie. The audiobook had my attention from beginning to end.
Keisha Ervin recommended this on her favorite book she read in 2020 YouTube and it sounded good when she talked about it. Baby she was RIGHT! This was a really good listen. This made me sad because Rabbit was getting used and abused by a much older man when she was a CHILD and she thought it was love. If her first baby daddy is still alive I hope he's up under a prison. I hate that she had to sell drugs but with two babies before you're even old enough to drive, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm so happy she is successful now and was able to make a better life for her and her children.
I really enjoyed this. It was recommended to me after expressing the fact that I didn't want to read anything heavy. This was the perfect read (listen). Loved Samiah and her job in Tech. I feel like I haven't read many books where the main Black character has a great job in Tech so this was refreshing. I loved her and Daniel's relationship. I loved how the book started off with Samiah and two other women getting played and it going viral and them building a friendship out of it. This was soooo good! I can't wait for a sequel!
*SCREAMING* MIDNITE LOVE HAS DONE IT AGAIN! Baby this gave me EVERYTHING!!! I'm a huge fan of this series and omg I loved every moment of this spinoff. I can't wait for a part 2! The whole time I was reading this I was like "If Adrian and AJ don't go get some damn professional help!". I hate Jennifer and KeKe had to die. I felt bad for AJ and everything he went through. Pebbles is still showing out from the other side!
ANGIE THOMAS HAS DONE IT AGAIN! Just finished listening to Concrete Rose on audiobook and shout out to Dion Graham for his narration. He was incredible.
I have never wanted to whoop a teenager so badly before. Maverick's pull out game is WEAK. TWO babies before you're 18? I mean this wasn't a surprise but still I wanted to cut a switch. Thank God for his mother who was a saint. Her being bi was a surprise...I must have missed that in THUG unless it wasn't mentioned. Mav was lucky to have so many amazing adults around him supporting him. I was mad at Ayesha, like girl that's not postpartum you just want to dip and do it with King and have his baby. I really wanted to fight her. Lisa's brother knocking Mav tf out wasn't a surprise. I feel like in THUG the brother and Mav still didn't get a long. Lisa's bougie butt got on my nerves at time but she was a good kid and her and Mav just meshed so well together.
I hated that his cousin was killed. I was waiting for the trauma cause one thing Angie Thomas is gonna give us is trauma. Thankful Mav turned his life around because it definitely could have went the same way Dre's life did or his dads. Miss Angie I'm gonna need you to write a book about Mav's parents as teenagers because they were both really interesting. I'd enjoy seeing how Mav's mom had to hide her love for another girl growing up and how her and Mav's dad got together. Angie captured that part in a Black boys life where they are teetering on adulthood so good. Mav was still a child trying to be grown.
I'm rambling like most of my "reviews" do but this was so good. OH! And the granny getting on Mav during Thanksgiving was HILARIOUS. "He getting out the way for the new baby" and "Whew you shole is fertile!" SENT ME! I need more of the Granny in a book. Just give us a new book in the THUG universe every month chile.
