Yesssssssssss gawd. Miss Saundra showed out on this book. In all honesty I didn't think I would enjoy this but this ended up being a definite page turner! Mya was a trip! I liked her character for being a strong independent young lady willing to do what she had to do for her family. This had sad moments and it's sad that many young people live the life the characters in the book lead (violence, drug addiction). I will have to recommend this book to people who enjoy a good urban lit novel. My hats off to Saundra!

There better be a sequel cause you know you were dead wrong for that ending Miss Saundra lol.

This volume hurt me to my core. I initially gave this one star but I was rating based on how I was feeling about what happened. It was still a decent story.

I read this book because Nicole Bitchie (famous celeb blogger) started a book club and it was their first read. This was really good, I'm not really into inspirational books but this caught my attention because like everyone else I'm trying to plot how to achieve my dreams yet I let others (and myself) block me from from even getting started. This is one of those books I'd like to have a copy of so I can always reference it. Really great book.

OMG...
This book right here....
OMG...

So yeah I wasn't going to start on part 2 until next month but I plan to go ahead and dive into it because part 1 left me wanting more. This is one of the few books I've read where I hated all of the characters just about except for a few of the kids. This had everything in it and I've never read a book like this before. I rode the bus while reading this and would bust out in laughter A LOT. I loved when the kids would cuss Quita out. I hated Valencia's guts!!! How can you get someone fired from their job and still try to be their friend? There was a lot of back stabbing in this and I wanted to punch Quita in her mouth. Some parts were extremely sad like the child abuse and Kimi getting raped. I look forward to reading more of Gina West.

OMG...

Gina West you are a mess!

Ok I didn't like this as much as the last one but I couldn't put it down! Was I the only one who wanted someone to just kill Tech? Seriously I got so mad when he told Quita she "owed him". Dude...you killed her mom. I was sad to see Kimi get killed but knew it was coming. That Valencia had it coming to her. Even after all the mess went down she was still a beyotch. I found myself really liking Quita more in this book. Her heart came out more in it. I would have loved to know what Tech did to Mr. Creepy after Cordon told him. My heart goes out to Miranda, I hope her mom stopped bringing around all those "uncles." I'd love to see a spinoff where it goes into Clarkita's life story cause it sounded like she was a hot mess back in the day. This was a good ratchet read and I really enjoyed it. Keep them coming Ms. Gina!

I really didn't like this as much as I liked the first two in this series but it was still pretty decent. I found myself really hating Serenity. Who thinks about shopping while on the run? Really? I'm not about that lesbian life but the lesbian scenes were really hot...especially with Carla and the squirter lol. There were a few surprises and things I didn't expect. The ending was decent. Natalie Weber, I need for you to make a series staring Rico! -Someone please correct me if she does have a book with Rico being central character.- I need more about him and that football player who came to the restaurant. I'd love to know how that affair started and how Rico gets down. I enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more by this author. :)

It has been a while since I have read this book but I always think about it with fondness. This will always be the first book that really moved me. It made my soul ache. I will have to read this as an adult now because I was a teen when I read it the first time.

This was a decent story but I expected more. I wanted to see Alex get what's coming to him. Hopefully there will be a part two for this. Seriously he screwed over so many women and in the end nothing happened to him. Really? The women should have known better than to deal with him and get caught up though. I was waiting on someone to kidnap his ass or do something to his parents but nothing. Also, I enjoy reading sex scenes but this book had sooooo much sex that it started getting boring. Every other page Alex as banging someone new. I'd like to see a sequel to this where Alex goes to a sex addiction support group lol. I haven't read that many Cairo novels but so far this is my least fave.
