Honestly I had my expectations low, cause right now I'm have trouble reading Dracula, so I was a little skeptical to read Carmilla, but when I found out Carmilla was published first it got my attention. And I really enjoyed it. The reasons I didnt gave it 5 stars was because I really thought that it was going to be through Carmilla's pov and not Laura's. I wished Carmilla had a little more aura? Like more strong personality. For me she felt like a whining girl. But the rest i loved it.

I think the narrator really sabotage the story. It felt so bland and lack of emotions for to be a ghost story. It made me feel that it was a satire and it really was a dry dark comedy. But im not sure. It really wasn't scary or tense, very repetitive at times. It was okay, I guess.

I listened this book and let me tell you the narrator really carry the experience. The translation felt very well done, like it captured the feeling that the author portrayed. Talking about equal rights and equal treatment for everyone. Obviously topics that needs to be talked about. What really didn't hit for me was the repetitiveness of the plot, and well it is very explicit, it took me out of the story a few times. Either way I had a fun time.

I think this was more a dark humor kind of story. The MC cope with humor a lot even though she was crazy out of her mind. The lack of haunted made me think it was all in her head, wish it had more suspension. But definitely a fun read.

When I finished this book my immediate thought was "I have to re-read this". I listened it and I feel that some stuff I lost track of it, so thats why It took me by surprise that ending. I knew early on the story that these characters even though I was rooting for them, they wouldn't win. But not like that! It's a beautiful, heart wrenching story. If I ever reread it I will update this.

Releasing now on the 30th of June. I went blind reading this novel. The plot took me by surprise and I couldn't leave it. It talks about religion, human rights, the church as not a safe space for everyone. We follow, the cardinal that for some reason his elected to be pope and one of his deep secrets comes to the surface and how he needs to defend himself against the church he follow and with his own thoughts. The plot is very clever and it's a great way to talk about those topics. But I found the writing to be a little cliche and sometimes cringe. Most of the characters felt quite the same, and that made some other characters more exaggerated and a little too cartoony with the heaviness of the story. Other than that I really enjoyed this book

Im glad I chose to read this book now and not earlier. Younger me wouldn't had appreciated in the moment. Now I know why this book is loved and studied, it deserves it. I love how beautiful it is and how the monster has so much depth, that other media scrap off. I really don't have any comments. It was amazing and I love it

I feel if I had read more classics I would had enjoyed this book more. But this my second classic read, and it felt so dense and confusing mostly on the passing of time. In the same manner it's my first experience with a generational plot, so you can imagine the confusion when I got to the half of the book. Otherwise I really enjoyed it, but I still think I should have read others and then read this one.

Short read, finished in one sitting. This took me to the slice of life anime with a hint of ridiculousness. Hated the man by far! I think this is a culture shock and it just shows you how Japan, it's really conservative and very strict on their gender roles. We don't need to follow what society thinks are our milestones.
Graphic: Misogyny, Sexism
The writing is so horrible. Genuinely bad storytelling. If this was a true story the characters felt so flat, one dimensional that o couldn't keep going.
