I have read a couple of Belinda Bauer books and have thoroughly enjoyed them, they are inventive, humorous and full of twists and turns, and Exit is no different.
The book deals with assisted suicide, and focuses on Felix Pink, a rather sad and lonely man, tormented by the death of his wife and son, both from illnesses that stole them from him long before their deaths. Felix is an ‘exiteer’ someone who sits with terminally ill people as they end their lives. The story revolves around one such occasion when Felix and a new ‘exiteer’ Amanda, preside over a terrible mistake and the consequences that has for both them and others.
I really enjoyed this book, it really does leave you guessing throughout and just when you think you understand what has happened, something comes along to completely change your view.
The characters are a delight, and I was drawn to even the most unsavoury of them, but Felix and Skipper were a joy, I loved both of them.
The plot is inventive, well thought out and really does leave the reader guessing to the end. There are also a couple of side mysteries within the book, which are just as intriguing as the main plot, and which are solved by the end.
However, what makes this book so enjoyable, is the humour, therE are times I did laugh out loud, despite this being a book which deals predominately with death, loneliness and terminal illness.
A definite five stars from me, I absolutely loved it.

Thank you to the author, Grove Atlantic and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a delight, which seems a bit skewed, seeing it's about a group that offers assistance for suicide to the terminally ill - and one particular such procedure that goes wrong and has knock-off effect after knock-on effect after... well, I'm sure you get the picture. It's so cleverly plotted and full of unexpected humor that it drew me in, and the characters are so well-drawn that I found myself invested and not able to put the book down, so eager was I to find out what happened. And to cap it all off, all the - very - loose threads come together, some in unexpected but not implausible ways, to create a very satisfying ending. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book and am sure I will read it again very soon

I’m a big fan of Belinda Bauer and adored ‘Snap’ therefore I was extremely excited to get into ‘Exit’. Yet again Belinda gives us such intriguing, lifelike characters that you can imagine living out their lives; they’re not always likeable and even those you are fond of have such realistic characteristics that you don’t always think fondly of them. I found myself caring about these characters and feeling sad for ones I had originally written off. It’s a punchy, fast paced story that kept me interested and still managed to surprise me right until the end. Belinda has a way of weaving a rich tale made up of complex characters and interesting, thought provoking story lines that never disappoint.

Lovely little murder mystery - Thursday Murder Club vibes! The cover makes it look like an action-packed thriller, but it’s much more gentle.

Felix Pink enters a home with one goal: to kindly keep a dying man company. But when he flees fifteen minutes later--more quickly than his seventy-five years usually allow--he's on the run from the police. Because Felix has made a mistake, and now his quiet life will never be the same.

"The [words] he needed finally dropped slowly from his numb lips. 'We killed the wrong man.'"

Oh my gosh, this book was amazing. Absolutely excellent. It has a different premise, keeps you guessing, and the characters are beyond superb. Bauer utterly captures Felix, with whom I fell completely in love. Yes, seventy-five-year-old widowed Felix is my new literary love. She also does an excellent job with Calvin, the young policeman who must investigate Felix Pink. These two men--along with the supporting cast--jump off the pages of this thriller. I was completely enthralled.

Even better, somehow this tale is witty despite it revolving around death. Felix has a superb sense of humor and the entire book is just infused with wit and a feeling of tenderness. It's also incredibly shocking, with a couple of plot twists that made me gasp. It's twisty and a total page turner. Rare do you get a mystery that is sweet yet exciting. But EXIT is just that.

Overall, this book is a total winner. Funny and heartwarming coupled with an excellent, intricate mystery plot that keeps you surprised at each turn. Highly recommend this one!

This was such a great book. Not at all what I was expecting, given that its subject is not a light one: assisted suicide and the legal repercussions of it all.

The story was told in a refreshing, genuine, and clever way, the characters were ironic and flawed but in a benevolent way, also the villains were "nice". It made me laugh and think, it had a deeper, serious layer under a light hearted facade that was very much needed.

Definitely not the usual dark thriller, but not without many twists and turns that made the story very captivating, and kept me guessing until the final chapter.
