Vivid, haunting and wryly funny. I see Atkinson's style has divided reviewers but I loved it. Extremely poignant but it was the humour that made it readable and sympathetic and not a melodrama. Can't wait to read more of her work.

Took a little bit of time to get into, but when I did it was amazing!

Good lord! What a slog! Outdated and slow. It had great potential and fell very, very short.

A brilliant beginning. After that, okay... A family saga returning time and again to Ruby's present from her family's history and her own (omniscient seen) future. It was alright, didn't like many characters, wasn't too bothered really. The interesting plot point was interesting but it didn't make sense to me why Ruby had never known about it. I won't spoil it.
Overall, alright, well-written but I was disappointed not to have enjoyed it more.

I liked this! Lots of complicated interpersonal drama. I often wanted the characters to strive to be kind to each other or try to be happy but still somehow enjoyed it, despite not liking most of them. Justice for Patricia. There were about 30 pages right before the end that could have been edited but still worth the read.
