I used to make fun of people like me. Now, apparently, I read cat mysteries. Life is funny! This was a fun, easy book. I will probably read more in the series.

Nice solid mystery with solid characters. Combines a bit of the cozy in the person of Temple Barr, PR person for the Las Vegas Convention Center and a bit of the noir in Midnight Louie a streetwise cat-about-town who is an old pro in Sin City. I enjoyed the discussion of the landaldy Electra and her wedding chapel "peopled" with soft form dummies dressed for the occasion to make the weddings seem warmer. I thought the mystery was rather well-done, although she seemed slow about understanding the significance of the murder weapon once she knew about the victim's past. And I am not complete sure I grasp the nature of the mutual antagonism between Temple and C.R. Molina, police detective. All in all, it was an interesting read and I would read others in the series if they came my way, although I might not make a huge effort to seek them out given all of the other books on Mt. TBR.

This is the first book of a series of cozy mysteries that I both liked and disliked. I like that there are not just one, but several strong women characters. I was ok with the cat being anthromorphed (rather like Garfield). His schtick is a bit detective noir, which I enjoy. I also liked that she threw in some Minnesota references, (her being a former Minnesotan and me being a current one). But together, it was just a good book, not a fabulous book. I will likely read more of this series in the future. This book was my first read on my new Voyage.

If you like cozies, I do recommend reading this.

I love the Irene Adler series, so was interested in this one by the same writer. With a protagonist like Louie, how can you miss? This is the first int he series (the third that I read) - and it is a great start!

Book #41 read in 2006

I really enjoyed this book. I especially liked the chapters Midnight Louie "wrote". I plan to read many more in this series.

If your willing to believe that a cat can have so much intuition as to solve murders, this book is a nice and cosy mystery for a rainy or snowy day.
