christopher!! this one really was bittersweet. but seriously, the amount of world building and story packed into less than 30 pages is awe inspiring.

Christopher's backstory AKA we finally get to see Mariposa.... in the form of a short story. Dang, I really liked finally seeing this world. And I want more! The world of Mariposa is glitteringly spooky and richly vivid – a beautiful combination.

The story of Christopher and the Skeleton Girl is equal parts sweet and sad, despite knowing the outcome from the get-go. I just hope they both get more book time in the next volumes.

Ah, Mariposa deserves its own novella, honestly.

I am obsessed with all things Wayward Children, so I loved every minute of this short little story. Mariposa was just as beautiful as I always imagined it would be, and even though it was just a tiny glimpse of Christopher's story, I appreciate it.

Counting down the days until January 10th when Book 8 comes out. This series is one of the only things that I love about cold and dreary January!

Loved this look into Christopher’s world but it just makes me want more. Haha. Literally sobbed at the end of this. I really hope he finds his way back. 😢

"Skeleton Song" works well enough how it is, but I can't help but feel frustrated that this isn't just a full story like the other main books in the series! The world Christopher has stumbled into in this one, Mariposa, is so unique and richly imagined that simply getting a little taste of it here is ultimately unsatisfying, especially if you have read the other books with Christopher and gotten the other parts of his story.
