Found this on my dad's bookshelf :D
Chomsky has some very definitive and refreshing things to say about the US and even as someone who is not born and raised or living in America it really opens my eyes to the propaganda model and what ideas about the US we take as fact or find acceptable.
This is my first book from Chomsky and I've heard great things, and he definitely did not disappoint. There is so much to learn from him and he is undoubtedly well-versed in what he talks about. I especially enjoyed what he had to say about activism and change.

Important work to understand the reasons the Iraq War is a massive crime of the US Empire. The book tends to wander from the central focus of American imperialism in Iraq and the Middle East more generally, but even when it does Chomsky’s insights into the topics of discussion with Barsamian are useful and informative.

I haven't read nonfiction for ages. Chomsky is among my favorite political thinkers, mostly because I feel like he comes right out and says the things that other commentators huff and puff and beat around the bush at.

That being said, I felt his comments (the book is in interview format, Q and A) in this particular book were fairly obvious, and lacking the level of insight that usual impresses me. He brings a few solid points to the table, and makes some strong statements and assertions about the Clinton Administration and their hegemonic approach to foreign policy, which I found interesting, (and I agree with most of what he says, being a bleeding heart liberal myself), but it didn't especially inspire activate, or educate me--mostly made me feel bad about my privileged lifestyle, and how little activism I am engaged in on a day to day basis.

Very interesting. It is nice to know that I'm not the only one that holds some of these views.
