I enjoyed reading this. It had quite a few twists and turns. It's mostly stand alone even though it's part of a series. However, there were a few points where I would've liked to have read the others first.

The character dynamics were interesting and the story well written. I would definitely like to read more of the series. It was fast paced and interesting till the end.

Maybe I needed to read others in the series first, but I just felt detached from most of the characters. This one was a page-turner though. What it lacks in character likeability is made up for in plot.

Let me first say, I always enjoy the ...to Die... series. She writes strong female characters and the stories flow quickly and full of suspense.
Willing to Die was the 8th in the series and just as good as the others.

That being said, while the female characters are well rounded, the male characters tend to be more one dimensional.

Spoiler:

In regards to this particulars book, I am sorry, but the son of a mother who is a cop and a deceased father who was a cop, at 20 yrs old (not 17)- who wants to be a cop and has been a victim and seen his sister survive being a victim, does not roll over and play dead for some *COUSIN* who rolls in with a half story and lies. Seriously, this guy thinks he should be a cop? Where the heck are his survival instincts. Male character = one dimension and simple... Badly done...!!!
....AND DID I MENTION SHE WAS HIS COUSIN?!?!?! Ew

The latest in the "To Die" series. Continuing from Expecting to Die". Pescoli is on maternity leave and still hasn't made the decision to come back to the force or not. Her sister is murdered and she's inserted herself into the investigation when her niece becomes a prime suspect. Jumping from Montana to California to Montana with different players and clues leading Pescoli to wonder who really killed her sister. A few twists but overall not as exciting as the other books in the series

Meh.
Picked this up on a recommendation. I love a good hard-boiled crime mystery. And this wants to be one of those. But it's not quite. About 60% through the whole plot is given away so I put it down.
