Overall I enjoyed this book. It was a good thriller, kept you entertained and guessing throughout. I didn’t give it five stars for a couple of reasons. First, there wasn’t really anything special about this book. It was good but not amazing. Second, this might be considered a spoiler, a lot of stuff from previous novels were mentioned and so it made it a little confusing. Spoiler: the person behind all of this was from a different book and to fully understand why they did what they did I feel you needed to read a couple of the previous novels. Then there was certain aspects that I couldn’t believe the main character wasn’t mad about. Right at the beginning she mentioned her daughter being kidnapped in a previous novel and her dad was involved. The dad was trying to contact the daughter and she was upset and the mom barely did anything to help her. Then her son was flirting and later hooked up with his first cousin and no one was that concerned!!! I’m sorry, if I found my son in bed with his underaged first cousin I would be freaking out! That was barely mentioned as an issue. Due to those issues I’m sticking with my four stars, not five.

This is the last book in the Alvarez/Pescoli series (unless there are more coming) and it was just as good as the others.  Not necessary to read them in order but I did and loved the ability to pick up almost where the other ones left off.

This book centers mostly around Detective Regan Pescoli.  While she's on maternity leave, one of her sisters and brother-in-law are murdered in their home.  Her daughter who also lives at the house is missing.  Regan goes out to see the family and see if she can help but doesn't get very far with local authorities so she returns home.

Once at home, she can't seem to shake this feeling that she's being watched and something bad is going to happen.

Really enjoyed this new installment in the Montana Series and am very grateful to have received the advanced reader copy. I love Lisa's writing style, the fast paced action keeps me turning the pages even after I should have turned the lights out and went to bed. Always look forward to a new Lisa Jackson thriller!!!

Lisa Jackson is one of the best in the business and this, the eighth thriller in the Montana series, is a particularly nail-biting instalment. We are reacquainted with Detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli as they investigate the murders of some of Pescoli's family. This, of course, hits a little too close to home for her and is a tough case to crack having just returned from maternity leave. With all the excitement and twists, turns and misdirection of the previous books this is a superb thriller.

Ms Jackson creates a crackling tension and edge of your seat suspense which runs for the duration of the novel, and because it was so addictive I read it in a single compulsive sitting. The action is nonstop, the pace brisk and that ending; phew, what a corker. Alvarez and Pescoli are a dynamic pair and we learn more about them in book eight. Each of these instalments can easily be enjoyed as a standalone as each story is contained to that particular book. I look forward to the next one. Many thanks to Mulholland Books for an ARC.

This was a very intriguing story involving Regan Pescoli's sisters, one of which, Brindel and her husband were shot dead in their beds. Their sons and daughter were missing. They lived in San Francisco. Regan decided to head there to see if she could help with the investigation along as seeing her other sisters Sarina and Collette. Although she hasn't really spoken or seen her sisters in a while.

The plot thickens as it always does with Lisa Jackson and there is no trace of a motive for killing Brindel and her husband that can be found. The sons finally turn up at Sarina's but there is still no sign of Ivy, where could she be. Then it transpires she had been to a pyschiatrist so could she be unstable? The police still have no leads and want to question her urgently. Ivy has done a runner but why?

An interesting read with a twist at the towards the end when Regan has returned home to Grizzly Falls and the bodies are mounting up. Regan has to decide if she wants to return to duty as a police officer or become a full time mum and she has been given a deadline by her boss to decide. One of the hardest decisions of her life.

I still love reading Lisa Jackson books, they still have that certain something to keep you hooked.
