Throughout reading I was set on this book being given 4 stars, however those last few pages had me hooked. Even when I ‘accidentally’ went to the end to find out who the murder was (which is something I can normally hold off from doing’ I still had so many surprises laying in store. The small passage that I did read a little early didn’t in fact tell me anything I needed to know, and so the shock of the murder (or murders

A typical, but entertaining Poirot story with the murder of a 14 year old, no less, and the return of one of my favorite Poirot characters Ariadne Oliver!

I was totally bamboozled on this one BUT I did pick up on some of the key clues that helped poirot figure it out which I'm proud of.
I read an interesting criticism about the believability of this one but that didn't take away my enjoyability during the book so not taking any points off.
I also love that Christie has a character who is explicitly parodying herself in this. It's very funny.

Beautiful story, Miss Oliver will always be my favourite secondary character.

New style for me. Loved the writing and thoroughly enjoyed learning new vocab and new uses for words. A great deal of character description and too quick for much deep development of those characters but for what I was anticipating, it fully satisfied.
