I loved the premise, and I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened to the characters...but I was not a fan of this book. It really bothered me when the author grossly exaggerated (at length -- i'm talking several chapters) the first days of breastfeeding a newborn. I also felt the storyline took an awkward path that became ridiculous. The best parts of this book were learning about what all the flowers mean.

The premise of this book captured my attention but even then, I didn't really know what to expect. What I found surprised and intrigued me, a story of forgiveness and redemption, but more, a story about how someone can change their own life regardless of the circumstances. This is a beautiful book.

I got everything I hoped for when I read The Language of Flowers - connection with the characters, challenge to examine my own language, and reason to learn more about flowers' messages. I felt peaceful after reading this book.
