victoria was a very unlikeable character for most of the book. she made decisions that made her situation worse because she believed “she didn’t deserve it” or “she couldn’t give them what they wanted”. she was constantly setting herself up for failure. i feel like this is also what made her a great main character. she was extremely flawed and the ending was great because she was able to change. the change wasnt unrealistic either, it was a start and she gave herself room to grow. i also really loved the parallel perspective from her current life and the things that happened when she lived with elizabeth as a child. you know something happened but you dont find out what until a very climactic part of the book! built up great suspense and made me want to pick it up again, which is something i have been struggling with recently.

The Language of Flowers is a quick read packed with emotion and wonderfully developed characters. I really enjoyed the focus on foster care as well learning more about the meanings of flowers. I didn’t fall in love with it but this is a great book nevertheless!

I loved the premise, and I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened to the characters...but I was not a fan of this book. It really bothered me when the author grossly exaggerated (at length -- i'm talking several chapters) the first days of breastfeeding a newborn. I also felt the storyline took an awkward path that became ridiculous. The best parts of this book were learning about what all the flowers mean.

The premise of this book captured my attention but even then, I didn't really know what to expect. What I found surprised and intrigued me, a story of forgiveness and redemption, but more, a story about how someone can change their own life regardless of the circumstances. This is a beautiful book.
