Chloe Brown needs to get a life, literally. After a near death experience she makes a get a life list to have something to flash before her life the next time. In the process, she meets Red- the superintendent of her building. Red also happens to look really good when he is painting shirtless. This book gives the spice in a full open door, but the story wasn't hitting all the marks for me. 3.5/5

As a black girl, the lack of diversity in the most popular books on this site is so normal to me that when I saw this book with a black girl on the cover I became so so so SOOO excited.

Firstly, major props to the author for not making her as stereotypical as possible because it honestly gets annoying to read sometimes. Secondly, I absolutely loved that this was a slow burn and not instalove like a lot of these bw/wm books that I come across. Lastly, the sex scenes were so intimate oh my gosh. I felt like it was inappropriate as hell for me to be looking and reading about it. So obviously they were written really well.

I can honestly say that I am very excited to read [b:Take a Hint, Dani Brown|49976087|Take a Hint, Dani Brown (The Brown Sisters, #2)|Talia Hibbert|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1572990974l/49976087._SX50_SY75_.jpg|72583521] and that is something that doesn’t happen often. Since I usually have a phobia against sequels, prequels and all that follow after. But truly, this book was amazing enough that I would reread it again before the year ends.

(I feel like I’ve just been handing out 5 stars to most of my recent reads but truly if a book doesn’t interest me 25% in, I always stop reading it. Don’t blame me lol)

The narrator did a fantastic job in the audiobook! The book is quite steamy which I found a little frustrating because the author did such a great job writing interactions between Chloe and Red that I didn't want them to stop talking.

I'd get so pulled into their relationship and discoveries about themselves, and then the threat of sex would come up and it felt like a detour to me that I didn't want to go on. This could be an all me problem and due to my unfamiliarity with romance novels.

I'll read all of the author's books, though, because the characters were written so well and the book make me laugh multiple times.

Super sweet love story! The fact that the imperfect characters know they are imperfect make it extra loveable.
