This was the last book I read of the Vampire Kisses series a few years back. I started re-reading the first 5 of the series again so I can remember what had taken place before I move on and actually finish the series. I still liked the book since I didn't remember everything from it. It was really great that Raven had met some vampires who accepted her as a mortal, instead of expecting her to change. I do hope Raven gets her wish to become a vampire but I also hope she would just value her mortality and be happy with that.

Though this book comes from a currently popular genre and will appeal to readers of vampire literature and other fans of the series, Vampire Kisses; overall the story is lacking. It’s difficult to place the grade level of this book. On the one hand there are many lusty and sexual charged moments involving the main characters, a gothic teenager, Raven, and her hunky vampire boyfriend, Alexander. On the other hand the story line and plot devices are overly contrived as to almost insult the older reader’s intelligence. There are some points of high interest like the underground club for vampires, The Coffin Club and its eerie descriptions. All the while, Raven, an outsider in her own world, struggles to find where she fits in, in and out of this vampire world; but this theme isn’t explored as seriously and it should be. All in all, the story is light, with little depth but still full of action that would keep vampire romance/adventure interested young people reading.

The plot twist was quite predictable; however, it was a very cute book and I liked it nonetheless. Definitely a quick read that will get your imagination spinning.

Disclaimer, I'm only reading this series for my inner teenage Kali. Much like the previous books, I'm not a huge fan now, and still found myself annoyed at the main character for a majority of the book. She's grappling with the same issues of judging people too quickly, debating if it's time to become a vampire, and having too many sexy boys interested in her.
I will say the plot of this one was a little better than the others--I liked seeing Raven making girl friends, and the introduction of Phoenix grabbed my attention if only for a short time. The last chapter felt like a fart though.
