Didn't expect this one to be in verse(or whatever this one is, I would call this that someone wrote a complete story and then put it in the shredder). Characters were so-so, and that open ending, arggggghhh, as if I miss a whole chunk of the book.

I don't know. I liked what this book was doing, but then it was kind of doing everything/too much. I liked where I thought this book was going, but it seemed to just kind of drift off and not really give me the closure I wanted. The big pro of this book was I started it and didn't want to stop until I finished it. This could be an interesting pair with Love and Leftovers.

I picked this book up at the library, looking for a quick read. Contrary to a lot of reviews for this book that I have seen, I quite liked the use of verse. It might have hindered the storytelling at times, but it made the read much more interesting for me. I enjoyed the voice and tone used by Addie.
The reason I gave this book 3 stars is due to the rushed nature of the entire plot in my opinion. At the end of the book, I was left feeling unsatisfied and honestly unsure of what had happened in the final pages. Although I did personally enjoy the use of verse, I felt that the book altogether could have been worded in a less ambiguous way.

I honestly think had this book been written in prose rather than verse, I might've enjoyed it much more. I just didn't feel the story fit well within that format and I think at times it held the story back. The format didn't allow for character depth, which caused the characters to feel one-dimensional. I also had major issues with the amount of cheating that takes place within this book between the characters. (like can you not????) This story didn't even feel complete when I finished reading it. I kept thinking, "that can't be the end?" or "maybe my copy of the book was a misprint?" There are just so many things that go unresolved and the ending is so abrupt. Overall I felt this book was pretty weak, unfortunately!

Okay, let me just start of by saying: this book is bisexual!!!!!  It was the absolute JOY of my life to read through this book and then discover that Addie likes girls.  It was an incredible realization, one that I had to shout about.  But--really--this book is awesome.

It doesn't shy away from the topic of abortion, and it certainly doesn't shy away from the notion of being unable to mourn or talk about it.  And with Christine Hepperman's biting, eloquent, and beautiful poetry, this narrative weaves together in a way that makes this story truly come to life.

Broken apart into months, this tale narrates the trajectory of Addie's life from abortion to grief to beginning of acceptance.  Each section is poignant and so incredibly evocative--it was as though I was feeling everything that she felt.  I personally haven't had an abortion, so I can't exactly attest to that experience or the emotions someone else may experience while reading this book.  All I know is that it was just filled with lovely characters who were dynamic and lovable.

This was a really quick read since it is written in verse. I liked the thought of the book but I don't feel like it was written really well. I understand it was in verse so it won't have all the details I would want but it seemed to be really lacking.
I will be putting a mini review on my channel with a "Back to the Library" video!

I checked this out on Overdrive (which I typically don't do) since it is written in verse.

It was ok. The protagonist finds herself dealing with first love and then an unwanted pregnancy. She goes to an all girls Catholic school and she lives in Ohio (this means she needs her parent's consent to get an abortion).

There isn't enough here to delve into the complex emotions of dealing with such a big decision at such a young age (I believe she's a junior in high school).

I liked the fact that it's written in verse, because I was able to move through it quickly.

I picked this book up looking for a quick read. And while it was a quick read (took me maybe two hours total), it wasn't very good. The way it was written I didn't feel like I connected with the characters very well, parts of it were confusing (I didn't know what was going on, but that just might have been me), and I didn't care much about the relationships. I felt like it could have been longer, and more developed. That being said, there were some funny parts and some really vivid imagery.
