I just love these kids. I am a huge fan to the original series and the next one that was also written by Vaughn, but this is pretty good to.
I was FLOORED when Alex came back. And honestly, I hate to say it, I am with Nico and Chase. I don't know what happened with him in other series, but he has never done anything good for us from what I have read. I get the whole family angle, but he literally was willing to sacrifice his so called family to save himself and the girl he had a crush on. And then in this he says he always felt like a Runaway. Bull. You never were a Runaway cause your only purpose for joining them was to kill them.
I LOVE Gib. I felt so bad that his brethren were sent to the future, and I bet he will really miss them. However, I am thrilled he might be a permanent figure in the group. I love that we keep expanding the team. Every new character is so fun and different.
I honestly don't know how I feel about Nico. Like girl, what on Earth gave you the impression that it was a good idea to let this evil sorcerer let a drop of him in you every time you cast a spell. Like girl, you are just setting everyone up to have to either kill you or watch you die.
I think the person that went after Alex is Molly. She is definitely the one with the kindest heart, and she was actually excited to see him when he came back. And if it is Molly, you already know that it will cause another fight with the Runaways and Alex cause they will think he kidnapped her.

Still loving this series. I read in other reviews that this is the last volume featuring Anka, which, boo x1000 because I've really enjoyed the art thus far—it's part of the appeal of the series for me—and I'm always a bit wary when someone new comes on board (see: Lumberjanes).
There were a couple bits of That Was Yesterday that were callbacks to things I knew very little about, but I could follow along well enough. There was one action sequence that I DID NOT get until I moved to the next page, then I had to re-read the previous two pages, but I didn't stayed confused for long.
This series is so much fun that I'll end up buying my own copies if my library doesn't keep up with it.

This was the best volume yet and also the saddest as it is Kris Anka's last as artist.
I'm not sure how to review without spoiling but this volume continues the tradition of using past plots and callbacks to plot a path forward. And how fitting for a YA comic, for often the choices we make as teens reverberate in adulthood. Humor, romance and action- what more can you ask for.

Ah, the classic moral dilemma of choosing between sacrificing one of your friends to appease the appetites of a couple of elder gods, killing one of them in cold blood, or letting humanity be devoured en masse. Truly the modern-day trolley problem.
I don't know if this is an unpopular Runaways opinion but I fucking love Alex lol. Unapologetically cold and kind of evil! But also he has feelings! Always fucking around and finding out! Has no super powers but is always causing the most problems! Love that for him!

Only four stars for this volume because I really was not a fan of the illustrations in the first two issues. I love Kris Anka’s style and I’m glad it came back in the second half!

This was definitely my least favorite volume of [a:Rainbow Rowell|4208569|Rainbow Rowell|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1342324527p2/4208569.jpg]'s take on The Runaways. Ordinarily, I'm pretty big on Rowell's writing style and humor. It usually makes up for any issues I have with the plot. However, that was not the case for this. I didn't enjoy the art in the first half. I thought the story was a little convoluted, hard to follow, and boring at times. Having Alex make a reappearance was such a great idea. I was excited for it. But now, having read it, I think there were better ways to go about it.
I am such a huge fan of [a:Brian K. Vaughan|24514|Brian K. Vaughan|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1557530189p2/24514.jpg] and what he did with those characters. I was so excited when Rowell was picking up where he left off. But the magic hasn't really translated (for me, at least). I've been moderately happy with the first two volumes; this was just kind of a disappointment.
I did give it two stars, though, because I really enjoyed the Old Lace issue!
