Stories like these remind me why I adore Scott Sigler’s work so much. He is a bold author who doesn’t shy away from challenging content and who is boundless with creativity and style. I truly did love every single story in this collection. They were packed with monsters, aliens, sharp dialogue, action and buckets of blood. Definitely not for the faint of heart. A must for anyone looking for some quick horror reads, and for anyone fan of Scott’s work!

Some great stories here. Would have been 5 stars, but I just wasn't keen on Hunter Hunterson.

Wolf
A historical horror tale - what would have happened if aliens or ?? attacked when it was wolves that ruled the world?

Hunter Hunterson & Sons
I thought of Supernatural - with the Winchesters. This had much of that feel -- if the boys were redneck haters.

Red Man
I loved this story. On one level it is a story about a man who has had some bad luck -- on another level it is a commentary on social norms, and what we do in the name of protecting our children

Iowa Typhoon
A nod to Stephen King or maybe Bentley Little - - something horrible is happening in a small town, how do they handle it?

The Great Snipe Hunt
I thought this was the best story in the batch. And as I am reading ZOO by James Patterson right now, I saw some parallels -- we are seriously screwed if the animals ever start evolving more smarts and decide we shouldn't be here anymore.

Number One with a Bullet
A very disturbing tale. I didn't know the NFL had a security unit that researched potential draft picks -- this is the story of what would happen if that security team found something truly evil?

Mt. Fitzroy (first chapter)
I have not read/listened to Earth Core -- so this story just didn't really draw me at all.

Sacred Cow
An interesting thought on who/what "God" is.

I listened to these stories on the FDO's podcast. And really, I think I like his short stories even more than I like his full length stuff. Awesome.

This book is a collection of some of Scott Sigler's best short stories, along with a new novella. if you're a fan of scifi or horror, this is definitely something you'll want to check out.

Perfectly disturbing. Mission accomplished, Mr. Sigler!

I always have high expectations when it comes to Scott Sigler's book. It's probably because he has the most amazing voice acting talent. Also, he writes scenes like he's IN THE SCENE.

This book is awesome because it scared and disturbed me! The way the author gave back stories to most of the characters is quite ingenious! I love him for it!!! I always listen to his podcasts and I definitely enjoy his books because they are very, very entertaining!

If you're looking for a horror read that guarantees hair-rising events... Then this one's for you!

A good book. Really enjoyed the audio. I've really liked Sigler's football/sf series and these stores have a lot of the same elements of the fantastic about them. (While at the same time I appreciate that Sigler tries to ground the sf/fantastic elements in real world science.) The first of the Hunter Hunterson & Sons stories was a stand out and I will definitely look for more of them. I skipped 'Mt Fitzroy' since Sigler introduced it as a prequel to another work that I haven't read. Overall, light, but highly entertaining, fun.

It was OK, the storm story being the pick of the lot.

This was my first read of this author so I didn't know what to expect, even though I've got a thing for short stories. Turns out, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed each and every one of these horror tales. The Red Man was the most depressing, but Hunter Hunterson and Sons was my absolute favorite. Would love to read more of the Hunterson clan, from Bo to even the neck beard living in the basement.

One of the only horror novels that I have read. The stories were well told, fun and gripping. I love the way he put different ideas together. The story about the wolves taking on an unknown evil puts you into that mind set. The snipe hunt keeps you guessing and I wanted to hear more about Hunt Hunterson and Son's. Nothing gets better than a meth addicted vampire. I highly recommend these stories.

I don't normally read/listen to especially violent fiction. Mr. Sigler here writes compelling stories with deep meaning as well as high body counts. Sometimes the most disturbing elements are the least violent ones.

I definitely plan to read and/or listen to more from this author.
