This was really an interesting read! I love the silence of the lambs and reading the cleverly written YA retelling was great! I found it refreshingly fast paced, it kind of felt rushed in some points but it didn’t bother me.

I recommend this to any fans of teen thrillers!!

More mystery than thrilling, but it was good.

4/5. Not the thriller I was expecting because it wasn't keeping me on the edge of my seat every page but it was a joy to read.

SPOILER (?): Not the biggest fan of the romance. It felt so forced and only had chemistry in the end. Not the biggest fan of the ending either but I don't really hate it. It just felt like the story was cut short too soon. Also, Simon and Kristin are my favorite characters. I rest my case.

Emma Lewis, the only survivor from the Huxton serial killing case, is asked by FBI to team up with Travis Bell in a special unit interviewing convicted teenager serial killers. They're tasked to collect more undisclosed informations from the perpetrators in order to build more understanding and preparation on how to prevent another fallen victim. But worrying about cold cases will never be enough—with another active case of serial killing in the town done by the Butcher, they have to consult Simon Gutmunsson, a convicted teenager serial killer who seemed to know the Butcher well. And soon after, the team got caught up in a dangerous game between two blood-thirsty killers.

Whew. What a rollercoaster of a read.

At first, even though the pace of the book was quite fast, there's nothing much happened. But not for too long before everything started to make sense and it feels like 'omg omg it's going bad bad BAD'—because IT TOTALLY IS. I didn't even realize I was holding my breath for not being too loud while reading those parts. The suspense was extremely dense and nerve-racking.

The dynamics between the characters were superb. Lewis, Bell, and Cooper made a great team, Cooper being a dad figure to the two teenagers. The Gutmunsson Twins—Kristin with her own antics and Simon being Simon—served as great (indirect) additions. I know we should actually hate Simon for everything he did and everyone he killed, but Ellie Marney totally understand how to make an enigmatic villain.

This is one of my favorite reads this month. Can't wait for the sequel!

I liked this one, however if you don't like TV shows or movies where people are getting murdered, reading this book may not be for you. I really liked all of the main characters and plan on reading the next book!

this book was so good. from start to finish. if i wasn’t studying for my board exam, it would have taken me a couple days instead of a week. emma and travis are teenage characters who have seen so much, and provide great info for the FBI. it really reminded me of mindhunter; so i enjoyed the interviews with serial killers! if you’re looking for a deep, psychological, and spooky read, look NO FURTHER !!!
