really good plot. the book is a thriller but it isn’t sickening, I recommend it if you’re into thrillers but don’t want to read the typical gruesome themes of thrillers

I hated this. I should’ve DNF’d but it was for a bookclub and I don’t DNF bookclub books. Its 200 pages of a boring long con, 100 pages of just awful spousal abuse and honestly not that good of justice. It’s boring. Like it was a horrible person who was just a jealous cow and like the “grass isn’t always greener” on the other side. It was also unnecessarily long. So much detail for literally so little story. Nothing was surprising

Liv Constantine has done it again and when I tell you my jaw is on the floor. After witnessing Amber’s downfall in The First Shot, I couldn’t wait to dive into the Last Mrs. Parrish. I’m giving this book 4 stars because once I got into the book I couldn’t put it down, but it did start off slow and had its moment where it dragged out. Overall this book left me not knowing who I was rooting for and who I wanted to win in the end. After this surprising ending I can’t wait for what is in store in The Next Mrs Parrish for Amber & Daphne.

The Last Mrs Parrish’ by Liv Constantine is a slow-burn, shocking domestic thriller about Amber Patterson, a woman from a poor background who believes that she deserves a life of wealth, luxury and leisure. Her corrosive envy and sheer determination mean that she will do just about anything to get there! When her duplicity leads to her becoming close to Daphne Parrish, the golden girl of her Connecticut town, she coverts her husband Jackson while desperately trying to bury her past…

I found this book extremely compelling and difficult to put down, especially as it became darker and twistier in the second half. Both female characters were well-developed even if not relatable, and the dynamics between Daphne’s daughters were interesting. I also enjoyed the descriptions of trips to New York and charity galas and thought the author treated difficult topics with sensitivity.

One thing I would say is that the narrative structure was fairly familiar, not unlike a number of other thrillers I have read recently with a breath-taking reveal that turns their stories on their heads - I would have preferred cascading realisations and the ratcheting up of intrigue for longer.

This book is absolutely worth a read! I can absolutely see why it became one of Reese’s Book Club picks. Giving it four stars and plan to read and review the sequel ‘The Next Mrs Parrish’ soon.
