This is a good book, with a different way of telling a story in the Star Wars Universe. I felt it progressed slowly at the beginning, but by the end, I almost forgot I was reading about the Imperials taking out the rebel groups.

Great read

Christie Golden Humanized both sides in this book. She also brought back a Clones Wars Character and a small Character from Rebel Rising. She also left door open for future stories!

Really only about 50-75 pages kept me entertained. The rest was just filler. Had a lot of potential, and it’s nice to know where the group gas their origin before you get the big cannon story in Star Wars Battlefront II.

The first Star Wars book I read from the Imperial perspective. Great espionage thriller full of delicious Star Wars flavor! Quick, pulpy, plot-driven read with just enough characterization and emotion to make it all go down smoothly. Recommended.

So that was all for nothing… don’t get me wrong, I liked the book, but getting to the end it doesn’t feel like Inferno Squad accomplished anything worthwhile. ||Yes, the Dreamers are dead, but so is Seyn. And Lux is still alive. So he could just go to the Rebellion and give them the same info.|| In the grand scheme of things, they didn’t really stop any big threat to the Empire.

The characters were fine. It’s weird to be sympathizing with Imperials, but they did show growth (except Gideon, fuck that guy) and understanding of the Dreamers.

It’s been too long since I’ve watched a play through of Battlefront II to remember if it connects to the game at all, but the book was all right. Although if I never have to read Christie Golden’s obsession with making every humanoid character hot, it will still be too soon 🙄

I actually did really enjoy this one -- and I think the audiobook narrator REALLY sold the emotional impact behind it. You can tread a fine line of treating the fact you're reading for an imperial as some big wink wink joke but Janina Gavankar did a great job in bringing you in to the emotions to all the characters. Not that you can read this and suddenly think the Imperials are the Good Guys but in a way where it's like "oh you can fully see how they thought they were doing good". And it was a fun look at simply other groups of characters during a timeline we've spent a LOT of focus on AND doing it without completely rehashing canon events.
