Raffe is too great and precious for this world, I'll love him and Penryn so much it hurts and I ship them so hard. I'll love this book for ever and ever and ever.

It was good but it wasn’t as exciting as I hoped it would be!

Let's just agree; End of Days never happened. The best portion of this story to me involved the Watchers and that was short lived. Penryn was a little more immature, stubborn and annoying in this one. It was hard to read at points. Also, if I had to hear about her god damn head vault one more time...
There were so many things left open. Everything to do with Penryn's mom is understandable.. to a point. But she could have been flushed out more. Definitely could have been more there. What was Laylah's backstory with Raffe? There seemed to be so much unresolved tension there. I was looking forward to something even if it was in the form of a heated discussion. SHE PUT DEMON WINGS ON HIM. We deserved to see that confrontation. What's up with Michael? The history of the Pit/hellion sparked interest.
I wanted more.
As far as positives: the witty dialogue was enjoyable and the romance was perfectly tense and slow burning. This series deserved better. In my mind, it got better.
*Side Note: I read part of this on audiobook while painting my nails, I don't recommend it. The audiobook. Not manicures.
Spoiler
A talent show on the eve of a blood hunt????? Neither sound logical. The blood hunt, maybe because of Uriel and his desire to end all humans. It would seem more likely that with a bunch of recently rescued fallen angels, people would be more prone to opt for a gladiator-style battle. Which would have been glorious to read but just kill the most? BUT A TALENT SHOW I cringed so hard. It was literally just a free for all of fuckery. There were so many things left open. Everything to do with Penryn's mom is understandable.. to a point. But she could have been flushed out more.
Spoiler
her implied connection with demons which I think is supposed to explain Paige??I wanted more.

I am honestly just so disappointed. After the amazingness that was Angelfall and World After, it was absolutely heart-breaking to read this. It's not that it was particularly bad... but it left a lot of unanswered questions, and it was especially cheesy. Everything felt rushed, and several of the characters were completely OOC. Also, the ending was super convenient. Absolutely NOT what I was expecting from a series so brutal and REAL as this one used to be. Long story short, I think the main issue was the change from a 5 book series to a trilogy. You could tell Susan was trying to shove everything in there and wrap everything up nicely, but I'm sorry to say it did not work. I'll always adore this series, especially the first book, and all of the characters in it, but I'm afraid I'm just going to have to imagine my own ending.
Enjoyed the Raffe and Penryn parts, but the ending seemed very rushed.
I wished there was more to it.
ESPECIALLY in the Epilogue.
I still enjoyed it.

i can't believe this trilogy has come to an end :( i was still holding out for the 5 books we were promised, but alas. I love this trilogy so so much though, and this book was a satisfying conclusion. i'm so happy with the way things have turned out & even though there are still some unknowns about this world, i'm content with the answers i've been given.
"It turns out that she's the only one I can trust to watch my back.”
"I rub Raffe's arm to let him know it's me and take the sword out of his hand."
It's over. I don't want it to be over. I'm crying. I'M CRYING SO HARD RIGHT NOW! GIMME ALL THE FANFICTION..

Bittersweet to finally finish this series.
I wish there was a more concrete ending. There are many aspects of the story that are left open ended, but some needed conclusions or more context.
Like are we gonna address the elephant in the room ever? Ya know Penryn being a human that ages and Raffe being ya know an eternal angel???
I will also say the ending was simultaneously drawn out and abrupt, like the wrong things were being focused on.
I did love the characters we met along the way and the story behind others finally coming together.
A weak ending but enjoyable series.

This was a great conclusion to the series. Penryn and Raffe had such a great chemistry. I thunk the ending might have been a little rushed but it was still great.
