3'5.
Sigue siendo un libro bueno, pero me ha gustado algo menos que los tres anteriores. No me gusta cómo está siendo tratada Ce'Nedra ni el tema del libre albedrío.

This is the fourth installment of the Belgariad series and Eddings certainly ramps up the story in this one. All of the characters are as good as ever (still loving Aunt Pol) and both Gariad and Ce'Nedra, both of whom were a little whiny in previous books come to the fore and find their feet despite the odds against them and their friends. Here we find our heroes travelling across country being chased by Murgos as they try to get the Orb to Riva by Erastide and to keep the Prophecy intact before Torak awakens. The story itself is as gripping as ever and brings out the best (or worse) in each of the characters (including Silk's ever present wit) with even Ce'Nedra showing that she can step up when she needs too. Can't wait to get stuck into the fifth (and final) installment!

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first 3 books. Maybe it is the tantrums and the way Garion acts. The travelling actually starts to get boring. Hopefully the next book picks up.

This series continues to enchant me.

I'm sure some of the enjoyment of this series is coloured by it having been a book I read and re-read during my teens.  I had issues during the time with the depiction of women then and I still have it to some extent and with the implicit racism (not all Alorns!)  Now I do get that having a guiding god moulding people in their image could make people tend to tendencies but dammit variety is good, and it brings up huge free will issues.

Garion discovers truths and goes on a quest to kill Torak. Ce'Nedra discovers what her future holds and people gear themselves up for the epic battle that will happen.

Yes I enjoyed it overall but the characters are sketchy and I still love Silk. I think he was responsible for the years of playing thieves in role playing games.  These days I mostly play clerics by the way.
