Nice job, James Luceno. You wrote an approachable and humanizing account of the mechanics behind two major pieces of Star Wars weaponry. I have not yet seen Rogue One, but I feel like this book should be helpful in my enjoyment thereof. I think I will try your book on Tarkin next...

Good title

One can certainly hope that this book is the 'catalyst' to a great film. Luceno does spend quite a bit of time describing characters, planets, and situations, but I believe that's all in service to developing the characters to their fullest. It is exciting to be immersed in new worlds in this 'old galaxy' and I expect that this book will stand up to the quality of previous Star Wars novels.

So much gratuitous sexism and misogyny, I can't finish.

Meh. Needed more Imperials.

The Erso's are pretty boring. It would have been a more interesting read if there was more of a focus on the Imperials.

Absolutely loved this book, almost as much as I did Ahsoka. It was fantastically written and gave so much backstory that was missing. You can definitely tell they are trying very hard to rebuild the fundamentals of their cannon and in a well written and well put together way.

It's hard to tell whether I enjoyed this book because I've been in a Star Wars Trash frame of mind, because one of the main characters is played by Mads Mikkelsen in the Rogue One movie, or because it was actually a well-written exploration into the history of some great characters.

Quite possibly a combination of the above, even if I spent half of it sobbing over the fact that I grew attached to everyone full well knowing that they die soon after this novel ends.

easily the best of the Star Wars books I've read so far. Luceno has a gift for describing things, which is no small feat in the Star Wars IP given how many weird aliens need to be constantly described. i'm really, really impressed with this one. there's so much juicy Star Wars ambience in this, a lot of great nerdspeak about crystals and space military tactics and Orson Krennic being just an incredible psychopath. Really really liked this one.
