Companion to Stuck in Neutral. Told from the Bropther's POV. Also a good one!

Companion to [book:Stuck in Neutral], this is the story of Paul, Shawn's older brother. Paul is angry with his father for having left his wife and kids, not being able to deal with Shawn's disabilities. (Shawn is wheelchair-bound, unable to speak or move anything on his own) And Paul has anger issues in general, always quick to start a fight. He's a great athlete but his temper gets him in trouble. Through the course of the novel, Paul learns some truths about why his father left, and comes to better terms with himself about his anger and his feelings for Shawn. Great brothers story.

Cruise Control is narrated by a high school senior who has a brother with an extreme case of Cerebral Palsy. I enjoyed this book because I too have a younger brother with CP. We are very blessed because he has a mild case, but I still understand Paul's frustration when a younger sibling is suffering and the only thing you can do is love them. Cruise Control is a very well written YA novella that opens its readers eyes to life of a child who has a sibling with a disability because most people don't really look at the situation that way. The only flaw that the situations discussed in the book might call for a mature audience while the writting is written at a low level.

Not-very-compelling companion to Stuck in Neutral, from the brother's POV. Paul's voice isn't as powerful and we get no real character from him besides "anger issues," which isn't a trait, really.
