If you have read the first 15 books in this series, you know what you are getting when you start this novella. It follows the same typical structure, and I really enjoyed her letter at the end this time more than most. Fans: read. If you haven't read the first 15 books, start at book 1 and know they get better from there.

Review Taken From The Pewter Wolf

Dr Temperence Brennan has seen a lot of disturbing things in her line of work. But when she's asked to the foothills of North Carolina, she goes thinking she's going to find bones. Expect she has a bone of a young woman on her hands. And then she discovers something weird in the dead girl's pocket. Discovering this will set off a chain of events that will make Tempe discover something truly disturbing...

I liked this. Of course I'm going to say this. I like Kathy Reichs and I manage to read this over the course of two days (from some readers on Goodreads, they read it within an hour) and it was interesting to have a story move this quickly.

As weird as this sounds, I would have liked a tiny bit longer. Just so we got a little more detail. But the story is good. And we have no subplot - we are focused solely on the case. None of Tempe's lovelife dramas. And when we touch on the subject, it's very brief and... well... Tempe shoots it down. Like she would in the novels, but at least with the novels, they are there and make themselves known to the readers.

I think the eNovella might confuse some newer readers to the series as Kathy doesn't spend time introducing characters but this would be a good thing so new readers can read this and see if they like Reichs's writing style and Tempe's dry humour.

And with this, series fans can read this and enjoy something tying them over till the next novel, [b:Bones of the Lost|17612874|Bones of the Lost (Temperance Brennan #16)|Kathy Reichs|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1371520347s/17612874.jpg|21955329], comes out...

The shortest of the 4 Temperance Brennan novellas, this story was a very quick read. Since the story is so short, it is pretty “action-packed” throughout as Tempe figures out the case.

If you’re looking for a quick mystery read, this is one you should check out.

Another captivating story by Kathy Reichs. Although it is shorter than her other books, it does not disappoint. The length makes it a quick read (I finished the same day), but like her longer novels it is an amazing mystery.

This story is ok. It’s the first novella in this series, and as always my chief complaint about novellas is the lack of story development.

First Thought when Finished: Bones in Her Pocket was a short Tempe story (short stories are usually not a hit with me) but it hit on a subject near and dear to my heart so I loved it!

Overall Thoughts: Bones in Her Pocket was a novella where Temperance has a case that is a little outside the norm for her. Two things: I really enjoyed this quick short story and I believe Kathy wrote it to raise awareness about puppy mills. Needless to say, I totally approve of the way that she went about doing that. She wove a pretty good little mystery with some real world issues. For those that don't know me (well) I am a huge advocate for animals so I might be a little bit biased. However, I had no clue what this was about before I picked it up. I just love the series and this fits right in! If you are a fan of this series, you should give this shorter story a whirl.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Linda Emond / Length: 1 hr and 56 mins

I love Linda's narration of the Temperance Brennan series. She does such a good job with Tempe. I will warn people that are just fans of the show, Tempe is very different in the books. Linda nails her personality with precision but if you are expecting the tv version then you will be disappointed.

Final Thoughts: I need the next one now! I am not very patient :)

Unlike a lot of these ebook short stories Bones in her Pocket is the real deal and just what I expect from a Kathy Reichs book. In has an interesting case, enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and the unique writing style that makes Temperance Brennan my favorite fictional character of all times. Can't wait for August!!
