Set in the Forgotten Realms (D&D) universe, this is the story of twin Tieflings, Farideh and Havilar, exiled from their hometown along with their Dragonborn adoptive father, Mehen, when one of them accidentally summons a cocky demon and the other binds herself to him as his warlock.  What follows is a journey through Hellish politics, as the various factions of the underworld try to use our protagonists to suit their own agendas.  More than that, though, it's a story about family: Farideh's, Lorcan's, and others.

I listened to the audio version of this, and I'm not sure if I recommend it that way or not: the narrator,  Dina Pearlman, takes a while to really hit her stride with the characters, though she does a good job distinguishing their different voices.  At times it's tricky keeping track of which demonic characters are with which faction, because it's hard to go back and reference earlier events.  That said, I really, really, like the way Ms. Pearlman brings Lorcan to life -- with her voice, he easily steals the show.

Captivating and exciting. The relationship between Verita and Lorcin was well written. Very hard to listen to via audiobook without getting lost.

I really enjoyed this sequel--a great adventure story with a fun group of adventurers. The protaganists are fascinating, the father daughter interaction is fun, and the romance stuff is nice to see. If you are newish to the Forgotten Realms I think Erin's books are likely some of the best introductions to what is currently going on. Fun, fast read.

Slow start, but reasonably well written and certainly fun once it gets its feet under it. Perhaps a bit daunting for those who aren't steeped in D&D and Forgotten Realms vernacular, but even if you aren't may be worth a try to see!

If you enjoy your D&D in book form, this one's pretty good. I'll probably read the next and see how the Brimstone Angles trilogy ends. At least, I think its a trilogy :)

I found this story much more enjoyable to my previous read in the world of Moonshae. The characters all felt very real and reacted to the fantastical world around them in understandable ways. Farideh, the main character, sometimes regressed over the course of the story but not enough to be detrimental.

I would definitely read more about the twin tieflings and their dragonborn father.
