I normally don’t like “a slice of life” type of books but this was good. :)

I liked part one, but then part two felt a bit random and rushed.

The sentence structure and pacing is pretty simple but I think I expected that as it’s a translation. A lot of ground covered in a very short time so the pacing feels a little off sometimes, but overall an interesting read!

I was nodding yes to everything when it started then it went downhill when the wife came back. I get her struggles but I got confused why it was even titled Days at the Morisaki Bookshop when most of what happened on the second part onwards was not in the bookshop. I mean???

What a wonderful, cozy read. Would recommend to anyone that liked Before the Coffee Gets Cold as it has a similar slice-of-life vibe. Would like to own this one for sure - the journeys the characters go on are reflective enough and broad enough that you could get vastly different messages from this book depending on where you're at in your own life. Love it.

Extremely fast pacing in this book, seemed to go from one story beat to the next with very little time for proper character development. I finished the book questioning a number of reasons for why the characters acted the way they did, but not in the "oh how deep and mysteriously written" way but in the "damn I think these characters needed more work" way. The story itself was predictable but not entirely unenjoyable, it is clear what the author was going for and there were some pleasently written moments. The book is very short, so reading it wouldn't be a huge waste of time, but I still wouldn't recommend it.
