Not as great as beastly ( it can't compete I fell in love with it) but its very good, it kept me interested. It's hard to keep me interested so it did the trick. I would recommend it if you liked beastly!

4 and a 1/2 stars

I really enjoyed this fractured fairy tale from the author of Beastly. She uses quite a few tales and combines them into the story. Lots of magical things going on--including my experience trying to read this book---I swore it had a spell on it!! First I was working at the library on a Sat. and had just started this book when somehow I gave it to a patron with their stack of books! I didn't notice for a while, so I had no idea who had it! It took two weeks, but the book finally came back. Unfortunately, I was out of town. When I came home and noticed it was checked in again, I hurried and reserved it. BUT when I went to get it was no where in the library--AGAIN!!! It took hours, but we figured out that another librarian had had a stack of books to go home and had inadvertently picked up Cloaked and another book that were next to her stack and taken them home too!! FINALLY the next day I had it back! I took it home and would not let it leave the house till I finished it! I swear it had a spell on it!

BTW, I liked this better than Beastly!

Retold fairytales always draw my attention. I enjoyed the tales of Perrault, Andersen and Brothers Grimm. Creating new stories from classics always is an adventure. When I saw Cloaked, I pegged it as a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. A hint - not even close! The cloak refers to a magic cloak, not a red cloak. And Flinn wove one story out of seven little known fairytales. For myself, it was a little too many fairytale elements in one story. In one word, it was unbelievable. I am curious to read his first book, Beastly.

Alexander Cendese read the story with excellent teenage attitude.

Very good, a little less than par with Beastly.

So lame, while it was fast paced, he fell in love way to fast. Didn't like it too much.

I thought it was pretty entertaining, but it wasn't a book that held me captive and wouldn't let me put it down. It's something I would read in a "i'm-out-of-books-and-have-nothing-else-to-do" type of situation

I am a sucker for fairy tales and this book delivers a ton of them. In fact, in the author's note, Alex Flinn said she really tried to concentrate on fairy tales that did not have a movie to publicize it so that people could learn about new fairy tales they hadn't heard before. Was the end a bit pat? Well, of course it was, but it's a fairy tale. I take pat over disturbing or depressing any day.

Also, I listened to this and the reader is just okay. I like that it's a boy narrator since the story is told by a boy. However, his girl voices? Mostly non existent. I sometimes got confused who was talking, the boy, his girl best friend, or his mom.

Clean read, so this could even go to a 4th or 5th grader who was a good reader.

lol this is pretty terrible. it’s very predictable, which is a by product of it being a retelling of multiple fairytales, but still, lol, it’s bad. readable, but by no means good haha. also, i feel like everything was resolved too quickly and easily, so it kinda felt like why did i read this again.

also, side note, i thought alex flinn was a dude. i just found out this is not the case.
