After all these years of seeing The Secret of Nimh it was finally nice to get to read the book. The ending is much different from the animated movie, and does not involve any magic. Definitely a children's classic that just about anyone can pick up and enjoy.
I first read this in grade 4 and it has stayed with me for 25 years. What a joy to now share it with my daughter. It might even have been the inspiration behind us getting our own pet rats

This was a "can't put this down" book for me. I just loved reading it. I loved reading from Mrs. Frisby's POV in the opening chapters, and I loved that the author just went on a whole tangent in the middle about the rat society and their origins. The only downside to that tangent is that once we get back to the present, the ending chapters felt a little boring and not as adventurous as the rest of the story.

I never read this as a kid because I saw a cartoon version that scared the bejeezus out of me. It gave me plow nightmares. But I was ready to face it as an adult.

Read this one with my kids and they were really into it, more than I thought they might be. Sometimes I feel like they don't listen when I am reading but then we watched the movie and they remembered the most niche things. Also, the movie is WEIRD.
