I know the book was written like 50 years ago but, there are so many slurs. This book rambles on and really had no logically sense to why things were written the way they were even if Goldman was trying to make it seem like he was adapting from an original and changing it to fit a narrative that his Dad told him and he is trying to make an even better version for his son. Ehhh... go rent the movie. It is one of the rare occasions it is better. It changed a lot of the book. Besides the language the movie made it so much more concise and made more sense.

so much fun immediately knew it was going to be 5 stars when Buttercup threatened to kill herself if Westley didn't show up. "Yours in torment, Buttercup," im obsessed with her

*rating the main story exclusively! however witty or interesting the anniversary intros + explanation for Buttercup's Baby were the fatphobia n sexism were Not :') just so so strange to me ! took so much away from the charm n wonder of it all

It's odd. I loved this book and couldn't put it away... But then after finishing most of it, I was simply annoyed and fed up. The characters are static and the 'old-fashioned gender roles' became dominting. I simply lost interst in reading "the ending" of the story.

I was afraid this one wouldn't stack up to it's legendary status in my life. But I was pleasantly surprised. This story reads so smoothly, except for Golding's interruptions. I found myself increasingly irritated with his aside comments, like he was an annoying family member over the holidays. The meta aspects were something the movie pulled off better, I have to admit.
