“The Last Wish” by Andrzej Sapkowski — ★★★★★
Geralt of Rivia isn’t your average hero. He’s a Witcher—mutated, trained, and paid to hunt down monsters most people only dare whisper about. 🐺⚔️ But here’s the thing: sometimes the monsters aren’t the ones with claws and fangs.
In The Last Wish, we get a series of short stories that blend action, dark humor, and just the right amount of heartbreak. Between duels with deadly beasts, run-ins with sorceresses who could outsmart anyone, and choices that aren’t as black and white as they seem, Geralt’s world pulls you in and doesn’t let go.
What I loved most? The way Sapkowski mixes gritty battles with quiet, thoughtful moments that make you question what’s truly good or evil. It’s witty, it’s weird, it’s a little bloody… and it’s absolutely brilliant. If you like fantasy with sharp edges, complicated characters, and a touch of destiny, this is your next read.
Read this after watching the Netflix series, I liked it a lot! There were interesting differences between the book and the show that I enjoyed, and I would like this even without seeing the show first. I'm excited to read the rest of the books.

Fun romp. I like how The Voice Of Reason transitioned in between the short stories. The twists on classic fairy tales were fun.
I really hated how a lot of female characters were described with their body and with innuendo. My hot take is that if you do that, you should just go ahead and sexualize EVERYONE. But it was just the women. You could argue that Geralt is just a horny individual, but it just feels like Sapkowski is horny.
