I was sobbing my eyes out by the end of it.

Heartbreaking and captivating! I couldn’t put it down. I loved that the outcome of the book was more like a real life ending rather than what would happen in a fairytale. In fact, the whole story is so real and perfectly imperfect. Even characters that make bad decisions are difficult to hate as they are written as real three dimensional people with flaws and a past but also with redeeming qualities. Fully enjoyed from start to finish. Had me smiling, laughing and crying.

One of the worst books I have ever read - very painful to read with the "big cliff hanger reveal" in the middle, which was so incredibly inane. The end is too irritating to describe and is a slap in the face to add to the pain you suffer through before hand.

For the most part I absolutely loved this book. The only thing I didn’t like was how it was told by 2 different narrators, both in first person, and there wasn’t any distinction. It took a few sentences in to each chapter to realize who was talking.

This my third Dorothy Koomson book after I fell in love with "My Best Friends Girl." My reading urge died for a while and this book brought it back to life. I'm glad it ended the way it did even though I was lay in bed crying my eyes out and had to go and see my little girl, fast asleep when I'd finished, just because if it had ended any other way, it would have been too obvious. I really liked the characters Nova and Mal and wished constantly through the book that they could have been together. I'm waiting for the next Koomson book to fall into my hands as I need some more of this!

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

My favorite thing about this book was the characters. Although, the story was magnificent also. It was about two best friends who grew up together, Mal and Nova. When Mal and his wife are unable to have children, they ask Nova to be a surrogate mother for them. She agrees, reluctantly, but is suddenly left to raise the child on her own when Mal's wife discovers a text message he sent to Nova, "Goodnight, Beautiful." She goes through the next eight years without being able to be with or even talk to her best friend, but that must change when her son, Leo becomes critically ill.

This is one of the few books that has brought me to tears, simply because of the beauty and strength of the characters and relationships between the characters.
