Goodnight, Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson

5.0

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

My favorite thing about this book was the characters. Although, the story was magnificent also. It was about two best friends who grew up together, Mal and Nova. When Mal and his wife are unable to have children, they ask Nova to be a surrogate mother for them. She agrees, reluctantly, but is suddenly left to raise the child on her own when Mal's wife discovers a text message he sent to Nova, "Goodnight, Beautiful." She goes through the next eight years without being able to be with or even talk to her best friend, but that must change when her son, Leo becomes critically ill.

This is one of the few books that has brought me to tears, simply because of the beauty and strength of the characters and relationships between the characters.
