Such a sweet book! Even if their marriage started as a contracted business deal, the underlying attraction that sizzled throughout the book was undeniable even to the FMC & MMC. Love always wins in the end!

I love seeing curvy women in FMC roles, and this one was such a boss! Working to bring her small town hometown back to life.

Both of the friends groups in this book (world) are also amazing, and I can’t wait to read all of their stories!!

Leonor knows how to make you fall in love with her characters and what they're passionate about.

Max and Eva’s story has everything I love in a romance read -  marriage of convenience, grumpy/sunshine (she’s the grump), billionaire / struggling small business owner, one bed, he falls first, and “take your hands off my wife.” (Okay I also love “why choose” but there is a time and a place for that and it is not here! 😂) Add to this the charming small town of Laguna Island (am I becoming a small town romance girlie???), a curvy FMC, and lots of Latine characters? Perfection.

There is an emotional complexity to their story that exceeds the sum of those aforementioned parts.
When it became clear why Eva had abandonment issues, my heart broke a little. And Max just committing to her so wholeheartedly? It was beautiful.
I laughed. I cheered. I cried. I am sad it is over.

Carlos makes the perfect villain and the plot with Max’s inheritance adds just the right amount of tension.

Speaking of tension…it is a slow burn. *chef’s kiss* There is a part in the book where Max describes the Chilean dance, the cueca: “the dance is based on how a rooster seduces a hen. A mating ritual. It’s about getting close, so close to kissing…” I immediately recognized that the book is the narrative equivalent of this dance! And when the spice hits…be ready, because damn! Daniel has a bit of a dom vibe and Eva is lightly submissive. It’s very hot. And the best part? You kind of get that *finally!* moment twice. If you want to know what I mean, you’ll just have to read it. And I think the last piece of it is that it is a slow burn because there is a lot of emphasis on consent. Max is very aware of Eva's comfort levels and respects her boundaries at all times. And he communicates with her as things shift. It's gorgeous. If all slow burns were like this I would convert to being a fan! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the quality of the slow burn and the double payoff, plus the slightly k1nkey vibe.

For diversity, there is lots of Latine representation. Max and many of his friends are Chilean American. Eva is Bolivian and Uruguayan American. Max was partly raised in Chile while Eva feels very distant from her heritage and does not speak Spanish. They show us a nuanced range of Latine American identity.

In addition, the town of Laguna Island is a haven for Latin American folks in the Pacific Northwest. Our friends Alé and Daniel from Under the Meh-stletoe even show up and play a significant role in the plot. Daniel and Alé are not only Latine themselves, but also plus size. And Eva is curvy too. With no internalized fat phobia or self-hate. There are also queer and trans folks among the secondary characters.

I read an advance reader e-copy and I need the paperback for my shelves ASAP. I hope you are ready to hear me talk about this one all the time because I loved it!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I learned 19 new words and have 7 favorite quotes

Updated review:
When you read a book you don't expect to enjoy it while learning so many things.  I learned 19 new words.
We learn about Max & Eva.  They have a marriage of convenience.  Pero while they have class differences we can see how he falls for Eva.  You have to read it to fall in love with Maximiliano Errázuriz. Eva was able to heal his broken heart.  They are just perfect for each other.  We also get to learn about Chilean delicacies like Calzones Rotos 😋.
The novel is a slow burn with spice.
Billionaire MMC falls in love with business owner FMC.

Thank you Leonor for this ARC.
Cannot-wait-for the rest of the series.

Super thankful to get to read the eARC for this sweet story. I enjoyed the book the whole way through. The spice was spicy and also had a bit of dom/sub action which I didn’t expect but enjoyed reading.

I Iiked seeing the different Latine cultures Soliz chose to represent in the book and not only having characters from different countries with different practices and celebrations but also have one character be disconnected from her Latine identity, which often happens and was so nice to see reflected here.

Soliz writes the fat body wonderfully… I loved every mention of softness and fullness 🩷

Drunk Weddings always get me going lmao. This book revolves around Eva & Max who met in Vegas only to wake up next to each other, not remembering what happened. Weeks later Max is back in the small town Eva lives and works only to tell her that she is his wife. The deal is simple, he needs someone as his wife to get the trust fund and he is willing in investing in her business as well as the businesses of Laguna Beach.

This story is sweet and swoony, the slow burn makes you wait and for all the good reasons. The found family vibes, the Latina & mid-size Representation, standing up for each other and also the strength of a community, I enjoyed it all.

I really fell in love with Max and Eva from the get go. The story picks up in such an intriguing way that makes you want to keep reading. I really loved all of the representation in this book. All of the characters were very likeable and warm.

I was pleasantly surprised with the spice here! The slow burn was done really well, the chemistry between Max and Eva was so intense! I think the conflict was what had me lower my initial rating, but overall I really enjoyed reading this book!

My ratings:

2/5 🌶️ - there aren’t too many spicy scenes but the ones that are are so good!!

A modern day marriage of convenience that gives you all the warm fuzzies. Loved it!

Tropes:
Marriage of convenience
Class differences
Small town vibes
Billionaire MMC
Business owner FMC
Latinx representation
Plus-size heroine
Sunsine hero
Cozy vibes
He falls first
No 3rd act break up
Dual POV

I seriously couldn't get enough of this story. I loved seeing their love unfold and build up in small moments. I just loved how the cozy vibes of the town created the perfect backdrop for their love to build. Since Eva was clearly someone who was hurt by her parents' abandonment, she needed someone patient and willing to put in the work to earn her trust. And of course Maximiliano Errázuriz was just the person! Sigh... but of course, she healed a part of his broken soul from his parents' treatment as well... so honestly, they were just perfect for each other.

I highly recommend this book for everyone... but especially if you're a fan of marriage of convenience and when he falls first 😉

Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and offered voluntarily.

Opposites attract / marriage of convenience / small town romance meets bigger than life Latine billionaire / slow burn 🔥

Cozy, sweet, and an easy read! Love Soliz’s work and how her book always makes include a wide array of Latine representation.

Didn’t care much for the third act conflict and pacing was a bit uneven for me but I always recommend Soliz’s cozy romance books with a lil bit of spice at the
