Thank you Leonor Soliz for an eARC of this book.
AHHH, Leonor has done it again! I loved this book. You could read the writing growth Leonor has gone through.
Two weeks after getting married in Vegas, Max surprises Eva by coming to Laguna Island and calling her his wife. Both agree to a marriage of convenience to help Max obtain his inheritance. Max and Eva try to balance their fake marriage while also trying to identify their true feelings toward one another.
Getting to read Max and Eva's story was so fun. I loved both characters so much. Their dynamic and growth was everything. The slow burn was so worth it AND THE SPICE!! SO FREAKIN GOOD! I think this might be my favorite Leonor book so far.

Is this my new favorite Leonor Soliz book? I think so!
Max and Eva agree to perfectly rational and beneficial marriage of convenience- that they don’t exactly remember the next morning!
Max in his suits with his self deprecating humor and generosity covering his fear of being enough and Eva with her prickly attitude to keep people from getting close to disappoint her are so perfect for each other and watching them fall in love with as so beautiful and moving.
The discussions of difficult biological family histories, the joys and support of found family, and decisions regarding pregnancy and parenthood were to delicately but honestly explored.
And I loved getting to catch up with Max’s friends and the people of Eva’s town! Can’t wait for the next book!

Thank you, Leonor, for an eARC copy of the book. I started purchasing the books when Leonor releases the paperback, she puts them up the same day as her ARCs go out and I run and buy it to go with my ritual post completion of the book. I always hug it to my chest, take a deep breath in pure joy and happiness.
Max and Eva are in Vegas and run into one another and they make an agreement to get married. Both wake up not remembering what had happened and go their separate ways, until Max realizes they are married and shows up in Laguna Beach for his wife. Laguna Beach is a small town that was a community primarily for the Latine community, but it needs to be revitalized. Max comes from a billionaire family, and he wants to take the company in a different direction that does not exploit people, but his father is not on board with that. Eva needs the money from the agreed marriage to help with the investment of the town and bring in stability to her café business.
Leonor has this way of making me fall for a new couple so much that they become my new favorite couple. Max is this flirty, cheeky, charmer of a man who loves his suits and likes to keep this persona up a bit for his protection. He is Chilean and has a close group of friends that make you just want to be part of the crew. Eva, has the town, her parents immediately left when she was 18 and they didn’t raise her to be connected to her Latine culture. She has found family within the town and that is why it is so important to her. She is more reserved, cautious and careful with her heart. Eva is fat and it is body positive, fat neutral.
I LOVED their friendship as they got accustomed to their marriage. This is a SLOW BURN and (cue fans) that pays off when it heats up!
I also cried seeing the thank you note Leonor wrote and having my name in it. I adore her with all my heart, and I am so happy to see more and more people pick up her cozy romances that center Latine characters that are fat. They mean the world to me.

A Vegas marriage of convenience between Max, a billionaire and Eva, struggling small town coffee shop owner. They just have to stay married and be roommates for 18 months to fulfill the requirements so Max can gain his inheritance and Eva gets an investment in her coffee shop. What could go wrong?
This slow burn romance peels back the layers of these characters, it takes them a long time for them to get to know each other and thus for us to know them. The love is slow and sweet and once they get to it the spice be spicy.

This was the first book of the author's that I've read, but it definitely will not be the last. If you are looking for a romance book that is ROMANCE but with a sprinkle of spice - this book is for you! The burn was slow, the tension was high, and the story was so good. This is exactly what I think of when I hear the phrase "cozy romance"
Oh but don't get me wrong -there are some moments when my jaw hit the floor. MAX and his thoughts about his belt 😲😲😲 - I was not prepared. Loved it!
Also - you had me at "There you are, I've been looking for you"
Thank you to the author for gifting me an advance copy for a honest review! I'm excited to read more of your work.

I will never stop saying it representation matters. To be able to see yourself in a romance book is truly amazing. I've had the opportunity to tell this to Leonor of course I was balling my eyes out lol. Besides that I truly loved this story it was so fun well expect for the parts where I wanted to kick Max's dads butt lol. Be forewarned Leonor is the Queen of slow burn so expect that one especially for this one but when things pop off for Max and Eva OMG!!!!

Overall: 4.5/5
Spice level: 2/5
Tropes: slow burn, small town, billionaire, marriage of convenience
Representation: fat FMC, Latine MCs
I have to say: this is only my second book to read by this author, and her books are like a warm, lasting hug. There characters are good, strong people who aren't afraid to be vulnerable. They are written so well, even without assumption others' genders or sexuality. Consent is heavily present before anything happens.
That being said, the ultra slow burn is always a killer. The build up will have you crawling in your skin, in the best way. Eva and Max are a great example of this. It starts out as this impulsive marriage of convenience in Vegas that neither of them really remember happening.
Speaking of vulnerability, I will admit it took these 2 a little while to get to that point with each other. Eva has abandonment issues, and Max is trying to protect his heart. This is definitely a "he falls first" story, and I'm a sucker for that trope.
Also, because this is part of a series of standalone stories, we got to see Gabe and Lina again, along with the other guys in the friend group and Gabe's family.
The setting was quaint and very typical of small town life. Everybody knowing everybody else, along with their business. But they also strongly support each other. There's a heavy sense of community.
I really love when a hero wants to spoil his woman, even when it's not about the fact that he can afford to, but because it's something that will generally make her happy. Max is a billionaire and is on a path of being an ethical one and doing productive things with his money.
Back to this slow burn. Though it's never my favorite, Soliz has a way of writing it that once the seal is broken, it's torn to shreds. Chemistry through the roof and into the stars.
The pacing was a little slow, but it works for the story. The overall coziness of Soliz's books don't led themselves to a fast-paced plot.
There are so many more aspects I love about this author's work, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

The only author I'll happily allow to slow burn me. Max & Eva are quirky, straightforward, & adorable. The perfect love story tucked inside a delicious marriage of convenience scenario.
