I don’t remember the last time a book has given me goosebumps almost the whole way through like this one did. Holy shit. Absolutely gorgeous.

It’s not that it isn’t a good book. I just fell out of interest due to it falling out of my orbit.

I love everything I've read by Abdurraqib, but I think the presentation hurts this book a bit. All the pieces are good, but it can feel repetitive as each one is only a page or two long. Overall great writing, but don't read it like a book like i did. Pick it up, read a couple pages, and then put it down.

I meeeeaaan. Yeah. Nobody is writing like Hanif. And to once again listen to a book by him, READ by him it is such a treat. You can really hear the poetry and the feeling and the care. I don’t really relate to music in the way he does at all but nevertheless enjoyed living through his eyes for the span of this book and hearing his reflections on music and performances and also Carly Rae Jepson in two different essays! Nice.
