I enjoy using this in storytime. Today I used it for a sound theme. I talked about the five senses, then focused on the sense of hearing. I used The Elevator Song to go with the book and we played with musical instruments at the end.

I also used this story for our summer reading theme "Build a Better World" because the book is about a tall building. I had the kids use cut out shapes to build their own creation.

I think I liked this one. It's fun but the artwork didn't quite click for me. Could be fun for a story time though--especially in the city.

This book is excellent is so many ways - rhyming, spelling, inclusivity. Yeah, I said it. There are multiple skin tones shown in the book, without reference to them (too often the book has to be about inclusivity to be inclusive). Even the “white” people have differing shades and I think that’s important for kids to see.

I found the rhyming scheme to be extremely clever in that it teaches how different spellings can sound the same. Important to learn at an early age to become good spellers.

I was more impressed with this book than I thought I’d be. It would be fun to see if the child reading the book (or with whom you’re reading the book) could guess what was happening on the floor above.

Highly recommended and going on the list for the grandkids!

Mac Barnett's first picture book for super-littles. Lots of onomatopoeia and suspenseful pageturns. I like Brian Biggs's bold, bright art, too.

In the vein of "Brown Bear Brown Bear" but sillier, and with great clues, this will be a storytime hit for sure! I especially appreciated that all the noises rhymed...

A very funny story using lots of sound words. "Noisy Night" goes up each floor with each person asking who is making this noise above me? Great for storytime with all the different noises.
