This BOOK!!! I received this book in a set of LGBTQ+ books, and for the majority of the book I was wondering when it was going to get gay. I didn't think I would like a book that took 200 pages before anything even remotely gay happened, but this book is amazing. It was so refreshing to read an LGBTQ+ friendly book where that wasn't the entire story line. Dani and Carmen's relationship left me feeling so many different things, and I can't wait to read the second book.

We Set the Dark on Fire is such an incredible story with so many twists and turns all the way up to the last page. The concept of a primera and segunda is so interesting and a new take on polyamory that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I loved the set up for this story. It's well written with great suspense and rep. It ended on a clifhanger so I instantly started the next one.

really fun! pacing plodded a bit at times & the MC’s emotional journey was a bit slow for me, but probably just right for a less guillotine-happy reader. romance subplot was a very pleasant surprise.

Interesting premise I guess. Very predictable and not terribly engaging. The husband is the bad guy, but so shallow in his villainy that it’s not believable. Overhearing a conversation is a great way for the main character to garner info as a spy, but 3 times? Seems lazy. And I’m pretty sure that when you suffer burns and bruising, you’re not going to walk out of a hospital, let alone run towards a dangerous situation to be a hero. It’s a cliffhanger for the series, but I don’t think I care what happens.
