The book was slow to start which usually does not bother me while reading a book, as I know fantasy usually take time to build, but this one was a a struggle to initially get through. Otherwise, I enjoyed the characters. I was frustrated that Brann died so early in the story with so many secrets that he needed to tell Estrella I think the story would have been better if Brann lived, but then again the storyline would not have progressed with Caelum otherwise.
we well I had a feeling that Caelun was the Fae the entire time the reveal itself was very well done. I hope that Estrella can forgive him at some point in time and get over that Caelum/Caldris is in fact Fae and have a better understanding of the world around them and the war that happened to put up the Veil.

Fated mates
Fae
Touch her and die
Who did this to you
On the run
Forced proximity
Magic fights
Blonde hero
Lost history
Insta-love
He fell first
Secrets
Sword fights
Rebellion

The FMC’s willful ignorance after being given the literal opportunity and space to look things up about the Fae race is pretty annoying. She reads about everything and STILL doesn’t put  two and two together!

There was a few things that made this stand out from the Fae fated mates books that are out there, but it’s fairly standard stuff. Maybe the spice is amped up a tiny bit.

The world building was a bit slow to to catch my interest, but that changed once Estrella was on the run.

meh

I saw this book recommended on TikTok so I gave it a try. It was just ok and very predictable. The male lead is infuriating and incredibly possessive to the point where I was just hoping he wasn’t actually the one she’s supposed to end up with. The female lead constantly talks about being independent but allows him to feed her by hand and carry her around like a literal baby?? Didn’t make any sense to me. I didn’t care for the characters other than to root against them unfortunately. I will not be reading the second one.

Well that was a wild ride! Can’t say I didn’t see that twist coming but hell yeah I’m all for it. On to the next book!

Ok I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t care for this book. The writing style to me felt kind juvenile and it didn’t really “good” till the last like 20% of the book. I will not be finishing this series.

Honestly thought this would be a 5-star book. I devoured the first quarter. Ironically, once the "action" started I began to lose interest. The only one who could possibly be surprised by the reveal is the FMC.

Going to give the 2nd book a try in hopes the story is redeemed.
