challenging hopeful inspiring relaxing

I did not like this one as much as the first one. I just found this one kind of boring. I did enjoy the new characters and the character development of course, but i just wasn't as interested in this story line.

This book was hard for me to get through. I am not sure if it was the book, the fact that I was busy, or just I wasn't as in to it as I am into his other books. The last 100 pages were really good and read quickly, but I struggled to finish the book. But it is done now and I have been left hanging, so though it isn't my favorite series, I will read the third book to see how it all ends.

So in this book you meet a few new characters, and go on a new adventure, with a new bad guy.

Sounds great! And it was. I loved Walt, and Bes, and all the other new magicians. I despised the villain, and enjoyed the journey.

One thing, that I had a problem with was Carter... I feel like Sadie over shadows him, a bit. Let's face it, Sadie is the best at magic, and it's said that Carter is the smart one, but he was knocked unconscious twice in this book, and Sadie did quite a bit more problem solving. We spend a ton of time feeling sorry for Sadie because her life is so unfair, but so is Carter's. He also irked me with his whole Zia obsessing, it feels too fast for me.

I LOVE Carter! I want him to take charge, and be the super NERD he is, and to stop obsessing about that girl, that he spent, what? 2 days with? Not that I don't like Zia of course, I do really. I just feel like Zia and Carter don't actually know each other and the author might be pushing the relationship. I also feel like Sadie gets more development in this book.

Maybe it'll change next book.... I hope it does.
