To be truthful, it's been a while since I read the first book, so there were some confusing parts for me. But I did love this. As with all of his books, I am in awe of the amount of mythological research it takes to create the story. The best part of this for me was Sadie's character development.
I really liked this book! Especially the exploration of the five aspects of the soul and Ren. Which is the manifestation of all your experiences and functions as your secret name.
Arguably, this book has one of the most memorable aspects of the trilogy! The travel through the Duat to revive the Sun God.
The introduction of many other Egyptian deities like Nekbet, Khonshu, Tawaret were interesting and very well done and it does make you wonder if the writers of Moon Knight referenced these books or just the source material of the mythology.
I wouldn't say that I liked it better than the Red Pyramid because that book felt like it had a stronger intrigue for you to finish the book itself.
