This review of Polyvagal theory and practices felt like it was written more for the indigo and less for a therapist, which was more digestible. Lots of great quotes and introspective exercises. There were some physical practices to engage and reshape ventral vagal activity, but I think if I want more of that I need to look at “somatic experiencing” or energy medicine/touch for health manipulations.

This is now going to be one of my most highly recommended books for therapist friends and even some clients.
Deb Dana did a fantastic job of presenting the complex topic of polyvagal theory in a completely understandable way. I learned so much about how the nervous system is impacted by trauma and how we can help our bodies feel safe again.
I've already started applying some of her exercises and ideas into my work and my personal life. Definitely a worthwhile read.

This book was written in a way that made it hard for me to follow or pay attention and whenever I understood what the author was trying to get across, the information wasn't new or revelatory.

while perhaps pseudoscientific, dana’s approach to polyvagal theory is enlightening and soothing. even if it ends up being untrue i think the framework that the theory provides is helpful for nervous system regulation and would be beneficial to many. also her voice is so soothing
