I was really excited to see what exactly Demon Rumm was going to be about. Therefore, you can imagine the level of disappointment I felt when I learned this book had nothing to do with either demons, pirates, or rum.

Demon Rumm (Loveswept, #197) by Sandra Brown
Kristin Rumm is writing a book about her husbands life and his work.
There is a movie that is coming out about it with Ryan North playing the major role. He moves into her beachfront house so he can get a feel for the hero.
He finds himself very attracted to her an she leans into him as well...
He agrees to do the stunt himself, the crash that had ended her husbands life. Something doesn't go just right and his gloves are smoldering and he's on his way to the hospital...
He had cuddled her the night before when she cried out because of the nightmare of when her husband had died. She keeps reliving it and now she delivered the script changes to the set and saw the crash again for herself.
She still has questions about the original crash and is able to visit the airport and ask those who were on duty more questions to help ease her mind..and they are able to reenact his time at home prior to the crash..
Hot steamy sex scenes and I especially liked the house layout-the dining room specifically where it hangs over the cliff with 3 walls open to the ocean scene below.

I liked it. The pace was really nice and Rylan was a great hero. And quite believable too. I didn't even dislike the dead husband. All in all I liked how the whole story was put together.

I heard about this book from the Fated Mates Podcast (https://fatedmates.net/). It was mentioned that this was a hero POV and I found that intriguing. I picked up the audio from Libby, and unfortunately the audio is voiced by a female voice artist. She was fine, but it would have been better had it been voiced by a male.
This is a story was published in 1987, and it shows. The hero is entitled, handsy and arrogant. The heroine is portrayed as an icy stiff beauty that makes it difficult to connect with her. The prose is over the top and at times it can jar you out of the story. With all that aside, I gave it stars for the nostalgic read. Referencing music from the time (Chicago, Wham and REO Speedwagon) and the description of casual 80's fashion, it sent me back in time.

2.5* Early, and understandably dated, series romance by Brown. It was fine, but the angst was far more than the situation called for.

I should really give this two stars because it was so wrong on so many levels. But it’s summer so it gets bonus points. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Eh. This was sold to me a virgin widow trope… and it’s not that. It’s more of a sex-starved widow.

Sandra Brown's early books are not the usual fare that one has actually started expecting from her. This was was written in the 80's so probably that has to be taken into consideration. It has a captivating story line but conceptualization falls flat. There's quite a few hot n cold scenes but the heroine comes across bitchy and the hero too accommodating.
