It was okay. the only prblem that i had with the this book was that they were so many fairy tales in the book that it got confusing, trying to complete as many promises of the main character did. but other than that, it was pretty good.

I think this lacked some depth and felt like a children's book. It was predictable. Despite that it was entertaining. I liked how it was a mix of different fairy tales. I didn't knew all of them, but most I recognised.

-POTENTIAL SPOILERS-

Before I knew anything about this book aside from the title, I automatically assumed this was a Little Red Riding Hood retelling, and I was a bit disappointed when I found out it wasn't. There aren't enough good ones out there of that fairy tale.

Anyway, this is just a hodgepodge of various Grimms' Fairy-Tales, all because in her first book readers had no idea what Snow White and Rose Red was. Seriously?! Will you people read a book?! Who DOESN'T know that fairytale!? Especially since Disney is thinking of turning it into a movie in a few years. I even knew what The Salad was!

I enjoyed this one. The fairytales, despite the volume, were interwoven together in such a great way. Even though the setting is contemporary, I never once found myself questioning the believably, unlike when I read Towering. The twist about who loved who was a good twist, and also the twist that the fox is actually the main character's dad. I also liked the Florida setting! Makes me wish I could go to our lake-beach in town.

Overall I had fun reading this. It was an unusual and daring experiment to take, but I think it paid off rather well. I can't wait to finish the two remaining Alex Flinn fairy-tale retelling books I have left!

Cute and entertaining, though it certainly requires a high level of suspension of disbelief.

Not as great as beastly ( it can't compete I fell in love with it) but its very good, it kept me interested. It's hard to keep me interested so it did the trick. I would recommend it if you liked beastly!

4 and a 1/2 stars

I really enjoyed this fractured fairy tale from the author of Beastly. She uses quite a few tales and combines them into the story. Lots of magical things going on--including my experience trying to read this book---I swore it had a spell on it!! First I was working at the library on a Sat. and had just started this book when somehow I gave it to a patron with their stack of books! I didn't notice for a while, so I had no idea who had it! It took two weeks, but the book finally came back. Unfortunately, I was out of town. When I came home and noticed it was checked in again, I hurried and reserved it. BUT when I went to get it was no where in the library--AGAIN!!! It took hours, but we figured out that another librarian had had a stack of books to go home and had inadvertently picked up Cloaked and another book that were next to her stack and taken them home too!! FINALLY the next day I had it back! I took it home and would not let it leave the house till I finished it! I swear it had a spell on it!

BTW, I liked this better than Beastly!

Retold fairytales always draw my attention. I enjoyed the tales of Perrault, Andersen and Brothers Grimm. Creating new stories from classics always is an adventure. When I saw Cloaked, I pegged it as a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. A hint - not even close! The cloak refers to a magic cloak, not a red cloak. And Flinn wove one story out of seven little known fairytales. For myself, it was a little too many fairytale elements in one story. In one word, it was unbelievable. I am curious to read his first book, Beastly.

Alexander Cendese read the story with excellent teenage attitude.

Very good, a little less than par with Beastly.
