Honestly, I dove into A Cousin's Promise because it worked for a certain challenge I was in. It also didn't hurt that it was available on KU either. So, I figured why the heck not and jumped right in. Long story short, this took me a while to get through because the two main characters were completely frustrating.

Sorry, but I'm really not sorry for not finding one thing to like about them. It's definitely weird to say this because I love a good banter between characters in a book. I wouldn't consider these two bickering all the freaking time to be fun or enjoyable. Plus, the complaining and pushing someone away because they kept thinking they weren't good enough was just - ugh. I lowkey wanted to pull out all of my hair.

In the end, not really sure how I feel about the possibility of jumping into the sequel of this series. For now, though, I'm just going to dive into the next book on my kindle and move on with my life. Maybe one day... but not today.

Sometimes I like to read books with simpler characters or slower plot lines in between more strenuous books as a sort of palette cleanser, but I would still like those books to be half-way decent...and I cannot say that about this one. I have read several other novels about Amish life and this one is so poorly written one would think the author doesn't actually know anything about the subject. Not only does the author not seem to know how Amish people live, the dialogue is repetitive and does nothing to forward the story. It's just the same back and forth argument throughout the entire book, barely (if ever) even worded differently, and no additional arguments or reasoning are ever brought into it to help explain anyone's position in a more communicative/constructive way. This is going to sound super harsh but it was by far the dumbest thing I've read in a long time.

Interesting story, but ending seemed rushed. When they were fundraising for medical bills, I wondered why car insurance wouldn’t take care of them.

Good book.

I liked the storyline, but I am not in love with it enough to continue the series. I just do not feel connected to the characters. It's clean and written well. I think I am either in a funk or I am not the right target audience.

This was a great quick read. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars was because it was a really simple book both in story line and just general readability. I feel like a kid could read and enjoy it. It didn't seem like a real "grown up" book.

I really enjoyed this book and it was just what I was in the mood for. However, I feel as though we spent so much time with these characters and then the ending was incredibly rushed. Not to mention the faith content was shoved in mostly at the end as well. Overall a good story, but I wasn't a fan of the quick ending.

I chose this because a few friends have said they like Amish romances. Alas, not my cup of tea.
