I cannot possibly say enough good things about this book. Absolutely, jaw-droppingly incredible. I have not been this excited about a book in years. Recommended wholeheatedly and without reservation.

I found this book through a review by Mike Carey, whose work I adore. Carey's review also pretty much sums up my feelings regarding this work, so I shall let him speak for this book for me.

Too wordy, and not science fiction as billed.

Just amazing that this is his first novel. It did feel a little looser than some of his others, but his full command of the fantastical is on display here. And the twist, when it comes (and you know something is coming) is so jaw-dropping, but also setup so incredibly well that it flows right around your astonishment into a brilliant ending. Never wanted it to end.
