Enjoyed this a lot more than other similar books I've read. Expected it to be mostly about the trial but that was only a short section of the book, and it was mostly about the children and the town in which they live.

this was really incredible. it's not so often that a classic delivers, but i felt truly transported to this small town, small thinking usa town.

At the beginning this book seemed like a children's story. Something like Astrid Lindgren could've written (which is a good thing - I love Astrid Lindgren). But I knew what was supposed to happen even though the tone and style of the book didn't seem, I don't know, like the sort of way one would speak about such difficult matters. But in the end, I think, it was all perfect. Seeing the world and people and everything through Scout's eyes was wonderful (and painful).

Damn this book is good. I can see why Harper Lee only wrote one book.

Thought I'd give this a re-read to see what all the fuss was about. I read this in high school, like everybody else, and thought it was good, but couldn't remember much else about it. On Goodreads, this book tops just about every list out there, and I really couldn't remember it being that good.
I'm really glad I tried it again though. It was just as enjoyable the second time and it's easy to see why this is a classic. Lee couldn't have picked a better person to tell this story through than Scout. This same story has been told a million different ways since this book first came out, but this one's still got to be one of the best.
