A wonderful story about a young girl growing up in a vaguely dystopian, steampunk/dieselpunk future where our time is foreign and ancient. She gets called to help excavate a find at the old house of London's former ruler, who was leader of a race of genetically mutated people who thought themselves superior to others, and were killed for their power hungry ways

I feel like this book had many exciting and fun ideas, but moved too quickly over each one. There wasn't much breathing room, and each question was met with an answer very quickly before getting to the next question, which would also be answered quickly. The main character even remarks about this to herself when
she meets her mother for the first time after, saying something along the lines of that it's one thing to have a mother, but she hadn't expected to meet her so soon.

I listened to the audio book of this, which has a bonus chapter about the main character, Fever, being taken care of as a baby by all of the engineers. It's fun and has interesting character moments even as just a short bonus chapter and I wish that the entire book, or at least the first half, was more about Fever's life with the engineers and her upbringing. With the amount of plot points in this book, it could've very easily been two books.

I did like it though, I like the setting and Fever is a wonderfully enjoyable character, as is the rest of cast. I'm not sure if I will be continuing this series, because I like where this book leaves off. Although apparently the next book is about a traveling circus and I love circus books!

This book was amazing! I really love the way he’s going with this series. It’s nice to see a rational and cold female character compared the the usual overdramatic and stereotypical female character which i feel is where Wren fell short a little. I’m so exited to read this new series I love the little hints to the main books!

Fever Crumb is a actually a pretty well-written book. If you're familiar with Mr. Reeve's writing, you may like it even more. He certainly does not write to please so some people may find his writing rather dark and depressing. This book proves his mastery of steampunk writing.

I might have enjoyed it more if I'd read it in a better mood. I certainly prefer The Mortal Engines quartet but this book is pretty good if you're keen on reading about the history of how the motorised cities came to life.

Reece is an amazing world builder. This steam punk offering is no exception. This is a quick read. I enjoyed the Fever character. It will be interesting to see what happens in book 2.

this book just didn't do it for me. Appraently it's like a Mortal Engines prequel. But I just wasn't really into it.

Fascinating. I haven't read the Hungry City books, and hadn't even heard of them, but I may very well have to read them now. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book after this one.

Fever Crumb is raised as a foundling by Dr. Crumb in an enclave of London engineers. She grows up believing that to be rational is far better than to be emotional. Her world is in flux as it recovers from domination by a race called the Scriven. Rival factions fight for control as Fever discovers her past. This prequel to the Hungry City Chronicles has made me hungry for more. It reminds me of Airborn by Kenneth Oppel.
